I just did the diy of this mod for my 2 AC units. It cost $16 for the 1” foam board and foil tape. Did this project with my 6 year old daughter. It was hard to justify $170 when I researched it. The mod is amazing. We run our 2 units for our 43’ 5th wheel, on low, at 73 deg. The units will cycle on and off in 95 deg weather. Definitely do this to your AC units!!!

Yeah. I’m down to save time/money, I’m a diesel tech, and have an educated idea of what’ll be gained by the product and the time it’ll take to do the diy version….This was just out of the justification zone for me(discount included, with the diy materials “on hand”, and also considering I don’t want to do work on personal time lol)at the hourly rate I get anyway. This isn’t a new idea, although does look like a good execution and quality design. I’m Also down to pay for product r/d. Just over the mark for me. Little less and everyone will buy….. although where it’s at I think a lot of people full time in the south Rv’ing will and I hope these guys are very successful.🇺🇸

OK, I just finished the installation in my 221RB Transcend. It took about an hour, but I deliberately worked slow as to not mess anything up or move my AC unit. I had a little difficulty lining up one of the 4 lag bolts, but once that aligned it was smooth sailing. Now I was a bit skeptical as to home much improvement i would see on air flow and noise reduction. I figured I would see about the same in both areas as if I simply shut the vent on the unit. When I turned on the AC after the installation I was very impressed, and surprised, at how quiet the unit was and how much volume was emanating from every vent in my RV. Before I installed the Airflow, it wasn't uncommon to see 20 degrees difference in the bedroom vs our living area. Now the RV cools evenly.. Thank you Hanks for this recommendation! SO awesome and worth EVERY penny... Great job guys!

I installed the RV Air Flow System in my Rv and was amazed by the difference, but then I went two step further. I also installed The RV Silencer from Wacko product and my my AC is running 54.5db about 4.5 feet directly under the AC. It is so quiet I’m amazed. The other thing I did was I took each vent down from the ceiling and resealed the gap between the ducts, vent exhaust, and ceiling with new foil tape. Over time the factory foil tape was pealing up leaving gaps for air to escape between the vents and ceiling.

There is a less costly way to improve your a/c efficiency. Everyone who uses that product swears by them! However, I did my own DIY improvement by using one foot of round aluminum foil ducting and some duct tape. Spent around $10 bucks at a local hardware store and it made a huge difference on the output of the vents air flow! Our a/c fan motor arrived recently, so replaced our dead one and we barely hear the a/c running at all! The only noise is the air flow from the vents. Running the a/c on low speed our rig stays at a comfortable 75 degrees; with 100 + degrees outside, throughout our rig! WOW, it’s so good to be comfortable once again inside our rig!!

This product changed my life! My fiancee and I just started full timing thanks to you guys and changing lanes! Our trailer is 35foot pull behind with 1 AC unit and is fine on days under 85. Well we got this product or similar one and on 90 degree day we put it in in the heat of the day and it got very hot inside the trailer. Got it installed and 1.5 hours later the trailer is already down to 79 degrees and dropping, still in the heat of the day. We keep bedroom and bathroom door and vents closed until dark. Very Impressed so far! Also have a 20inch box fan pushing air across the floor. On 15 amp "mooch docking" setup and no shade in the afternoon. Any ways love your guys channel and happy travels Hanks!

I purchased one for my Dometic "Noisy as Heck" Brisk Air II. I have one AC in my unit and I just came back from the Outer Banks and the AC could not keep up during the day. Thought about buying a second AC for the front but after this, I will give this a try first. Was going to do the DIY method with foam and Aluminum tape but decided this was a neater installation and based on "Hanks Feedback" I was sold on this solution! Thanks Hanks!

Great idea and awesome video. When checking CFMs on an AC unit you need to have everything as if you are using it any other day. Keep vents on cause that’s how you use it every day. Yes the vents will restrict some air but that’s how it’s designed just make sure they are opened all the way. Hold the airflow cone over vent for up too 30 seconds but not less than 15 seconds to get a good reading. Yes I have a certification in airflow and 30 years in HVAC and this was what we found to work the best. Go by instructions but maybe this will help also. I don’t mind helping anyone on airflow problems cause sometimes we just need it. And it’s free. Lol. Stay safe and God bless.

Spent about $12 on material like foam insulation board/tape and reflectix. Made a tent shape directing down flow toward the sides and blocked the main AC from blowing directly down with the board, but added reflectix and tape to seal everything and tunnel direct to the sides. Much quieter and super strong flow from the out vents. Had to close the bath vent because it gets too cold in there now. You can even glue or tape foam brds together, then shave into shape if you don't want to bother with reflectix. ☺

Late to the comments with this suggestion....we have RV Airflow and love it! HOWEVER, you might not want it on all your ACs. We don't have it on the bedroom AC because we run that AC with the dump vents open at night so we can cool down to a lower temp without lowering the temp everywhere (it runs less). And you can't use dump vent with the airflow mod.... thought this is worth mentioning.

First off I can't thank you enough for doing the scientifically proven measurements with the animonium.... animotrium... anemometer cheerleader megaphone thingy because you know... SCIENCE!!!! You truly are in the company of the Mensa Society of A/C Engineers when it comes to that! And then, when you started talking about the number, and how the numbers were obviously a positive proof point of that numbers are numbers... BLOODY BRILLIANT I TELL YOU!!!! And then... I really can't believe this... but I watched through three commercial breaks and six commercials to get the final set of numbers. And I can tell you it was 100% worth the wait!! And in the end I don't even care that I watched ads because you two kids are double plus entertaining, to use that Ingsoc speak. But the only thing that has been left as a cavernous void in the wetware between my ears is... ARE YA BLEEPING COOLER AFTER THE INSTALL!?!?!?! 😁

When you take the vent covers off you change the AC loading. Either take off none of the vent covers to take measurements or take them all off. If you are getting turbulence issues in the airflow sensor you can add some air conditioning filter material in the cone to stabilize the airflow. Cars use a honeycomb material in the mass airflow sensors to stabilize the airflow. PS. The RV Airflow does make a huge difference in airflow, but it can be difficult to take valid measurements.

Love you guys and PLEASE keep being you. Don’t listen to those comments about too silly or just a commercial. Question, after installing the part you closed the side vents on the ceiling mount part. Wouldn’t that just direct more air to the vents? Wouldn’t that make more cool air flow? Isn’t that what the foam part did? Sure it’s me but I’m not sure why you couldn’t just close the main ceiling vents thus having more air to the duct vents. I’m not real handy so confused. Again, LOVE YA. Please stay Karl and Ney Ney. I just opened the air dumps and stopped using the ductwork. I believe it's Alliance RV that stopped using ceiling ductwork all together. The idea is you're wasting a lot of cooling by pumping the cold air through a hot ceiling. I think that's probably correct. Also 1 correction. You said something about the air conditioner providing ventilation which is not correct. They just recycle inside air, no fresh air is brought in.

We installed one two years ago, or so. Made a huge difference is the amount of air flow. I found out my front and rear AC are ducted together after installing it because when the rear unit is on it pushed a huge amount of air out the front vents. Even though I'm an avid DIY'er the money spent was well worth it, in my opinion. We will likely add one to our front AC too.

The size of your a/c unit will determine that. If you have the basic 13k unit will take longer to cool your rig down than a 15k btu unit. I have the Coleman 15k unit and did a diy fix to improve the unit efficiency air flow, and it will cool our rig from 90 degrees to 75 degrees within 30 minutes!

I did the diy version on our 2 units and it dropped the temp in our camper from 87 to 75 in less than an hour right after finishing

This is a point most seem to miss. The AC capacity is fixed. You don’t get more cooling by increasing airflow. This will decrease the delta across the coil. It improves air distribution and mat reduce warm spots. The statement it cools faster is inaccurate. It does cut the noise dramatically because it blocks line of sight to the blower. I’m an HVAC engineer 40+ years

Because of the loss of dead space, the RV does cool down much faster based on airflow!
@dustyashberry6140
@dustyashberry6140 2 жыл бұрын
@@donnnay1717 But what you are also missing is the shotty tape job that is in the plenum. Which will create losses because you will be losing air in the ceiling. You are not creating more cooling capability you are lessening the losses in your system.

I agree that these do make a difference worth the money. I took the time and did the DIY - and I’m a decent DIY’er - and that was ok but these work much better overall. It’s ridiculous in the first place that the plenums are designed as they are so at that point almost anything is going to be an improvement. The baffle is nearly useless and you’ll probably find it’s not even in the right place. If the DIY, which is notably cheaper, works for you, then so be it. I knew that after I did that, I could always use it. But I never went back. While hard to swallow the cost of the 2 units, I never regretted it once going that route. Now, another thing I wan to mention, as noted in this video, I have two 15k Coleman Mach units, which wants to have 50A to operate. I say wants to because I found it is not a demand. While many second units are 13.5K, this should be fine for almost if not all, really. I turned the electric water heater off and use just gas for that and then on a 30A connection (because most of our state park lots are 30A only) both units will run all day without any issue. It will absolutely through the breaker if I leave the water heater on electric as I’ve forgotten a time or two.

As always - love the video. Very entertaining, and we liked that it really gave some good information. There was an error in the process so it’s not really a 59% increase - just that side of me that can’t let it go. But still a good improvement and who cares when you’re having fun.

Wal-Mart sells Lasko Blower fans that you plug into the wall outlet to circulate air and they are quiet. So yes most air conditioner units will work better with a external room recalculation fan. There is now way that RV is going to be cool in the Yuma Arizona sun unless you learn how to add interior decorative insulation panels.

There are only 2 things that cause that. Lose wires on the lugs. Take a Klein screw driver and tighten them. The breaker is weak Lightning in the area can cause that. I always have a 30 and a 50 with me will switch them out while we are there. Take them with you when you leave. I'm a retired contractor if you don't want to do it have the maintnance people do it

Now for the hard truth , the duct runs front to back full length of all rvs so air blows past last duct so if u seal off the backside of the last duct it forces the air out and increases effiency of the units
