OK, I just finished the installation in my 221RB Transcend. It took about an hour, but I deliberately worked slow as to not mess anything up or move my AC unit. I had a little difficulty lining up one of the 4 lag bolts, but once that aligned it was smooth sailing. Now I was a bit skeptical as to home much improvement i would see on air flow and noise reduction. I figured I would see about the same in both areas as if I simply shut the vent on the unit. When I turned on the AC after the installation I was very impressed, and surprised, at how quiet the unit was and how much volume was emanating from every vent in my RV. Before I installed the Airflow, it wasn't uncommon to see 20 degrees difference in the bedroom vs our living area. Now the RV cools evenly.. Thank you Hanks for this recommendation! SO awesome and worth EVERY penny... Great job guys!

I installed the RV Air Flow System in my Rv and was amazed by the difference, but then I went two step further. I also installed The RV Silencer from Wacko product and my my AC is running 54.5db about 4.5 feet directly under the AC. It is so quiet I’m amazed. The other thing I did was I took each vent down from the ceiling and resealed the gap between the ducts, vent exhaust, and ceiling with new foil tape. Over time the factory foil tape was pealing up leaving gaps for air to escape between the vents and ceiling.

I just did the diy of this mod for my 2 AC units. It cost $16 for the 1” foam board and foil tape. Did this project with my 6 year old daughter. It was hard to justify $170 when I researched it. The mod is amazing. We run our 2 units for our 43’ 5th wheel, on low, at 73 deg. The units will cycle on and off in 95 deg weather. Definitely do this to your AC units!!!

Yeah. I’m down to save time/money, I’m a diesel tech, and have an educated idea of what’ll be gained by the product and the time it’ll take to do the diy version….This was just out of the justification zone for me(discount included, with the diy materials “on hand”, and also considering I don’t want to do work on personal time lol)at the hourly rate I get anyway. This isn’t a new idea, although does look like a good execution and quality design. I’m Also down to pay for product r/d. Just over the mark for me. Little less and everyone will buy….. although where it’s at I think a lot of people full time in the south Rv’ing will and I hope these guys are very successful.🇺🇸

This product changed my life! My fiancee and I just started full timing thanks to you guys and changing lanes! Our trailer is 35foot pull behind with 1 AC unit and is fine on days under 85. Well we got this product or similar one and on 90 degree day we put it in in the heat of the day and it got very hot inside the trailer. Got it installed and 1.5 hours later the trailer is already down to 79 degrees and dropping, still in the heat of the day. We keep bedroom and bathroom door and vents closed until dark. Very Impressed so far! Also have a 20inch box fan pushing air across the floor. On 15 amp "mooch docking" setup and no shade in the afternoon. Any ways love your guys channel and happy travels Hanks!

There is a less costly way to improve your a/c efficiency. Everyone who uses that product swears by them! However, I did my own DIY improvement by using one foot of round aluminum foil ducting and some duct tape. Spent around $10 bucks at a local hardware store and it made a huge difference on the output of the vents air flow! Our a/c fan motor arrived recently, so replaced our dead one and we barely hear the a/c running at all! The only noise is the air flow from the vents. Running the a/c on low speed our rig stays at a comfortable 75 degrees; with 100 + degrees outside, throughout our rig! WOW, it’s so good to be comfortable once again inside our rig!!

Great idea and awesome video. When checking CFMs on an AC unit you need to have everything as if you are using it any other day. Keep vents on cause that’s how you use it every day. Yes the vents will restrict some air but that’s how it’s designed just make sure they are opened all the way. Hold the airflow cone over vent for up too 30 seconds but not less than 15 seconds to get a good reading. Yes I have a certification in airflow and 30 years in HVAC and this was what we found to work the best. Go by instructions but maybe this will help also. I don’t mind helping anyone on airflow problems cause sometimes we just need it. And it’s free. Lol. Stay safe and God bless.

Spent about $12 on material like foam insulation board/tape and reflectix. Made a tent shape directing down flow toward the sides and blocked the main AC from blowing directly down with the board, but added reflectix and tape to seal everything and tunnel direct to the sides. Much quieter and super strong flow from the out vents. Had to close the bath vent because it gets too cold in there now. You can even glue or tape foam brds together, then shave into shape if you don't want to bother with reflectix. ☺

All the videos about the RV Airflow talk about CFM numbers but how much better does the A/C cool down the RV to the set point? For example: without it you go from 90 degrees to 75 in 3hrs but with the RV Airflow you go from 90 degrees to 75 in 2hrs.
@timlord41722 жыл бұрын
The size of your a/c unit will determine that. If you have the basic 13k unit will take longer to cool your rig down than a 15k btu unit. I have the Coleman 15k unit and did a diy fix to improve the unit efficiency air flow, and it will cool our rig from 90 degrees to 75 degrees within 30 minutes!

This is a point most seem to miss. The AC capacity is fixed. You don’t get more cooling by increasing airflow. This will decrease the delta across the coil. It improves air distribution and mat reduce warm spots. The statement it cools faster is inaccurate. It does cut the noise dramatically because it blocks line of sight to the blower. I’m an HVAC engineer 40+ years
@HappilyEverHanks2 жыл бұрын
Because of the loss of dead space, the RV does cool down much faster based on airflow!
@dustyashberry61402 жыл бұрын
@@donnnay1717 But what you are also missing is the shotty tape job that is in the plenum. Which will create losses because you will be losing air in the ceiling. You are not creating more cooling capability you are lessening the losses in your system.

Love you guys and PLEASE keep being you. Don’t listen to those comments about too silly or just a commercial. Question, after installing the part you closed the side vents on the ceiling mount part. Wouldn’t that just direct more air to the vents? Wouldn’t that make more cool air flow? Isn’t that what the foam part did? Sure it’s me but I’m not sure why you couldn’t just close the main ceiling vents thus having more air to the duct vents. I’m not real handy so confused. Again, LOVE YA. Please stay Karl and Ney Ney. Oh, and Dexter.

But still wondering if the kit is better and by how much. Family of 4 living in our trailer in the mojave desert 100+ degrees. I'll take any advantage i can get to stay cool. Love your content. 🤙

When you take the vent covers off you change the AC loading. Either take off none of the vent covers to take measurements or take them all off. If you are getting turbulence issues in the airflow sensor you can add some air conditioning filter material in the cone to stabilize the airflow. Cars use a honeycomb material in the mass airflow sensors to stabilize the airflow. PS. The RV Airflow does make a huge difference in airflow, but it can be difficult to take valid measurements.

What did you just say?

Doesn't really matter because they used the same procedure both before and after the airflow install.

This is cool. I have a 31ft TT with 1 AC unit and it seems to be fine (even in Georgia where it was 105 one day) as long as it’s really cold in the morning. But I only have 1 vent in the room and it can get stuffy when the air isn’t blowing. I was thinking just a battery fan to hang by the head. Think this system will work? I think mine is a more dead air problem than a cooling problem. That and I have always slept with a fan on.

If it really is a dead air problem it may work!

Do those long screws connect to something at the top? Patience is a virtue. Should have waited.

I thought about doing this, but i replaced one of my puck lights. It was surprising how much cold air was leaking into the ceiling from the ducting. It would be an undertaking to take the ceiling apart the fix the leaky ductwork.

Thanks for a informative video, but you never did a before and after decibel test to see how much quieter that contraption made the AC!

Nice vid, but where did you folks get the matching air cone?
@michaelcote78492 жыл бұрын
I loved the video. One question though, did you add the airflow from the overhead unit vents into your equation? When you were putting it back together you mentioned that the long vents are now blocked. So it seems that the increased flow at your circle vents is simply what you lost from the long slat vents. Thank ypu

Wal-Mart sells Lasko Blower fans that you plug into the wall outlet to circulate air and they are quiet. So yes most air conditioner units will work better with a external room recalculation fan. There is now way that RV is going to be cool in the Yuma Arizona sun unless you learn how to add interior decorative insulation panels.
