Amazing! I’ve been using AE for years, and I just learned this now.

This is great! I had no idea about protected regions. Love it. Does feel like we're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole here with AE but it's what we have for now when getting into more complex mocks.

You are absolutely right with that. If you haven’t tried it yet, ProtoPie actually does a really great job in the motion UX space allowing for true true components and state changes etc… the barrier to entry is a bit high. But it’s worth it to get some more creative flexibility that AE doesn’t bring.

Good to know you're back! thought you might have stopped posting altogether. After Effects is a bit complicated, but I know that's because you can create complex motion there. What are you thoughts on Jitter (or other similar software)?
@MotionUX10 ай бұрын
Appreciate it! Yeah Jitter is interesting and can be helpful for some workflows. However its really less about the specific program and more about the problem. If we start with a problem we then can pick the best workflow that helps solve that problem in the best way. Jitter is great as its super simple, and uses a more modern interface like figma, But it may be difficult to integrate into a team that is already using traditional tools like After effects. If the output is something that works for the entire team and you're a solo motion designer, than it doesn't really matter what tool you use as long as it works. I created this video a while back comparing some different tools and where they land in a typical Motion UX workflow. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4S0ZaptjZp0lbM&ab_channel=MotionUX

My typical tools with my teams are, Paper + pen, Figma + Figma prototyping, Protopie, and After effects. With these tools you can create anything you need at different fidelities depending on the specific needs.
