180whp 160wtq. At first glance the Dyno (superflow) numbers are disappointing. In reality however - you can make a Dyno read whatever you want depending on how you load them and adjust the parameters. They're best for measuring differences in power and I don't have a baseline in the first place. What matters to me is the torque curve and man is it beautiful. Wouldn't give it up for a turbo. Very curious to see what other 2.0 supers put down. Driving my car on the Dyno was one of the weirdest (and coolest) experiences I've ever had behind the wheel. Slipping the clutch while you're not moving is something else.

Hey there, fellow supercharged 2.0L Mazda 3! Just looking at these numbers again, they actually sound about right, add about 15% to whp and you're almost at 210 estimated crank hp, which is 35% over stock, about right for the supercharger. I'm certainly loving mine, no regrets at all.

What's the yellow thing in the front grille? an air intake port? also, is that an oil intercooler, or an intercooler for the VT unit?

Hah, it was pretty slow then. It's around 230whp now that it's fully tuned and on an ethanol mixture. Feels like a totally different car. Keep in mind this is the first time that engine had really been tuned for boost, there were still things to learn. Considering they dyno'd stock at ~135whp I'm pretty happy with that. Punches way above it's weight class. Ofc it'll have less peak power than if it was turbocharged, but there's boost on demand with this. Also don't know of an engine smaller than 2 liters making over 180whp. Maybe B18 (at the crank) but just barely.

No production gasoline engine I know of can make more than 200hp at the crank and still get 40mpg on the freeway without hybrid assistance, regardless of cylinder count or forced induction/NA.
@ScottDreyfus
@ScottDreyfus 7 ай бұрын
It's 135 crank hp factory so with driveline loss the car literally puts 110 hp to the ground in the 2.0. What are you even going on about. They are increasing whp by a pretty significant amount getting into the 170s. With tuning it's probably a 200 whp car all day and you're literally almost doubling the hp to the ground with a tune. What NA smaller than 2.0 liter puts down more than 200 hp. I'll wait since there's so many you should just be able to name 10 then. Go ahead. At 230 whp my old turbo protege was a quick little car and a lot of fun in that same range. The issue with this motor is the extremely high compression ratio at 13 to 1 is great for lean burn in the highway but not great for forced induction. You'd definitely benifits from ethenol mix. This is a significant kit and is cheaper than upgrading to the turbo s late model. I'd still like to know the list of smaller but so much more powerful 4 cyl. For what a used mazda cost these kits are going to be a nice value add if they are reliable going foward. Used Mazda are about to get a serious rug pull with used car prices plummeting. These will be even better buys. I've been driving a mazda6 since summer of 2009 and it's honestly been the best cat I've ever owned. Ut may end up with the VT kit on my 2.5 mzr after I snag a new hwy scud missile

@@ScottDreyfusI don't catch feelings for vehicles just because I own it. Is it reliable yes. But it's a dog no matter how you look at it. One of the lowest performing 4 cyl on the market. What 4cyl from the same time frame have lower performance than these 2.0 mazdas
@ScottDreyfus
@ScottDreyfus 7 ай бұрын
@@brandens7615 where are the smaller than 2.0 liter naturally aspirated motors producing more than 200 whp. I'm still waiting for your list. No one is hot for this motor your just being obtuse. The aftermarket is just starting to work on this generation but it's not going to have wide acceptance because it wasn't designed to be a high performance anything. You're the one with the broad proclomations with not actual examples so go piss in someone else's pool. We get it, you dot care about mazda but the same could be said for throwing a supercharger at a base civic with a cvt. Have fun go play in traffic.
@brandens7615
@brandens7615 7 ай бұрын
The base Toyota Corolla se 2.0l has 169hp. Few basic basic add ons and tuning could easily be over 200. Hyundai 2.5l naturally aspirated makes 191, a base Honda Civic ex na 2.0 makes 158 and responds well to basic mods and tuning. What I'm getting at is ITS A TERRIBLE FOUNDATION. For a performance build. You could literally start with any modern 4cly and get way way better results. Those Mazda motors are complete dogs. You slap forced induction on any thing and it'll increase hp. I drive a 2.0 Mazda 3 5 speed every day as my work car. It will not even pull on my wife's 2018 Prius. The Prius will pull on the Mazda. It's a dog.
