Supercharged Big Block For $900!?!?

Recently picked up this big block from a buddy for $900 and a set of heads. Killer deal but what do we do with the thing??

Hopefully the plan is a full rebuild. A blower cam and rectangle port heads are a great start, but these days stroker kits cost about the same as a stock rebuild kit, so might as well stroke it to a 489. That combo with 7psi should easily make 700hp, if not 800. That'd be a hell of a burnout machine.

If you can find a Moates chip burner you can tune it yourself or have someone tune it. Moates has closed up shop as of 2022 but many used items out there. If not then stand alone might be another option.

Its either a 1.6 or 1.3 whipple. Really not that big haha, but should make decent enough power to have fun.

Hey I can't believe I saw this motor on herei have a 1990 extra cab dully I got it in San Diego for 3,000 and I had Larry at valley heads in chats worth go through it and Kenny bell rebuild the supercharger I just put it back together and it hight and low idles and when I go to slow down it back fires and when I take off itspits and sputters I'm between Bakersfield and Los Angeles on top grapvine 5,000 elevation it has a msd timing control set up I can change timing when I drive for elevation it some times after shut it off won't start it starts when it wants to I changed electron. Mod. Did not change a thing..... Can you help me out.....

Unfortunately I wouldn't know too much about trouble shooting that. My best guess without seeing it in person would be something going on with the factory TBI. Generally it's the factory TBI that causes weird issues like this. I have since pulled this engine for my 85 Monte Carlo SS. My idea however was to use a holley sniper kit instead of the factory TBI. Already adapted it to the blower but I haven't put it in the car yet.

Why don't ya part it out before it goes to the crusher? Someone probably wants that front clip, the grille, the seats, the axle, hell maybe the whole truck, minus the motor and computer. Money to be made there. Edit: I could actually use that grille and headlights in my 98. Mine are busted all to shit. SLIGHTLY different styling, but it'd work. I'm in Western Washington, but it's probably cheaper for me to get one locally.

Thats due to a bad transmission lol, thing slips in every single gear. Engine runs fine however.
