@@scottroe1087 Agreed. I had an 87 5.0 convertible, and it was night and day with welded connectors. Even with stock power levels it was a significant improvement.

Replacing the hinge hardware and door handle/latch stuff isn't expensive and helps a lot too. I haven't owned a fox body for a couple of years, but every single one I bought had broken door handle that you had to know "the trick" to open, all fox-body owners know what I'm talking about lol. It's a cheap fix, but taking it apart and doing it for the first time isn't the easiest for sure.

I was in a 72 Chevy nova headed west on the 210 fwy from La Verne very few cars on the road opened up the 350 Chevy doing about a buck twenty look up in the rearview mirror and I see a black spec . I think “ if that is CHP by the time he catches up to me a will be exiting Azusa ave “ I look up again and he is on my ass like white on rice . Wtf 5.0 5spd coupe I was hooked . Cop wrote me up for 80 mph so I could go to traffic school , thanks again CHP for the great memories . 👍👍👍👍

I had a 93 lx notchback ex highway patrol car with a blown 331. I built the entire car from the ground up myself. Black with fray interior, it looked bone stock but was a 9 second daily driver back around 2001 when that was still pretty amazingly quick for a street car. Best looking, driving, and most fun car I've ever owned. And then I got rear-ended by a bigass flatbed tow truck while sitting at a red light. I about killed the driver, but there was a cop who watched it happen and pulled me off of the guy. The officer looked over the car a little more and understood why I was so pissed. I still miss that car and have never had anything else like it. Unfortunately I will probably never be able to have another one like it either.

Great street car sir! I miss my 91 notch, my first car. I always dreamed of a procharged 331. Love reef blue as wel! I noticed the aftermarket hood shocks that allow for a little more opening of the hood.

Beautiful fox ❤️ I was stationed at Ft Bliss in the 90’s and El Paso highway patrol drove these. Trooper would stop at our convoy checkpoint and we would rant and rave over his mobile office. I tried to buy a nice notch back when I was younger but couldn’t afford the insurance. Now that I can, they are dinosaurs.

I'm happy to say that I too own a 93 RBM coupe. I've had it since 95. Like this one, no snow and vary little rain. Simular engine setup but w/ a NOVI 1000 putting 463 to the ground. Mine does have a Harwood 2.5 in. cowl hood and an authentic Saleen wing. Its lowered as well with ROH Snyper wheels, which, as I understand, are as rare as the RBM coupes (1177) themselves.

In my book one of the coolest parts of the notch and LX hatch is the stainless oem rear exhaust pipes. Something id have to keep. I had a white 90' notchback in 1990 with dark tint, portedand polished heads, milled, valve job, off-road H-pipe, shorty headers, Enkei wheels and the original black Flowmasters.

Only thing I’d do is run a full exhaust. The beautiful stainless pipes not showing in the back takes away a lot. But if I was gonna run this car on the track often, I’d go with his setup

The valley where the girdle that hold the dogbones in is where the stock block cracks everytime under boost at high rpms. It's a beautiful notch. I'd look into a dart block when it comes time to rebuild motor

Good catch. But those are coolant ports only on the EGR you noticed (the open ones in particular). Do not flow air. I just haven't cut them off yet. Thanks.

Lifter valve usually cracks right down the center. Tuning, just like s550 and anything new is the key for old 302. Problem is the eec is terrible. 550whp is surprising on a large pulley. You usually need 10psi or more on a 331 to get up there. Well unless he c/r is 10:1 or higher. People don’t realize a off road x/h pipe 302 is pretty sweet sounding as much as a gt350.

Tuning is definitely key (mild) and keeping the RPM's down. Oh and absolutely no detonation. It made 11.5 lbs of boost at 5800 rpm during the E85 tune a month or so back. 566 whp. Was still making power but I 🐔'd out at that point. 9:1 compression.

Thanks Don. The cut-outs use a fairly simple mechanical system consisting of a lever located under my driver's seat which controls a set of two butterfly flaps, linked together by a solid bar, within my H pipe just after the long tubes (headers). Hope that helps.
