btw if you want the shifting to be better, it's a 'dual shift' because you're supposed to switch between the High/Low range on each gear. EX: Start> 1 Low> 1 High> 2 Low> 2 High> 3 Low> 3 High> 4 Low> 4 High> 5 Low> 5 High> End This will give you the full 10 Speeds and a much better result due to the Power/Torque graphs being held in climax. Edit: The automatic does the High/Low for you 🤓

In less im wrong you wouldnt start that way. Im pretty sure even back when double shifter 18 speeds existed the second shifter was for your overdrive gears, and each position of the second shifter was an extra two gears. But you still would travel through gears 1-5 normally, then you would flip your high gear switch which takes you to 7, 2nd shifter position changes, gets you to 9 etc. I dont think the've ever used a shifting patterning of 1L 1H. 1H on a semi is actually sixth gear which is roughly 20mph of difference in speed for the truck. You'd always use your first 5 low gears, then go over to 1H, 2H 3H etc which would be 6-7-8-9-10. But maybe the automatics in Beamng are weird.

For pure aceleration blower is better because it doesn't have turbo lag, but with a big load turbo is better because it produce more torque and power at a low rpm, i think if you used all 10 speeds the superchager would have more advantage, in 4° gear it fall out of it's power band

The blowers on most Diesels aren’t really there for boost, just to feed positive air pressure into the engine. Without forced induction. They can’t cycle.

Turbo is way better for diesels. You stay in boost for such long periods of time that turbo lag really isn't a problem.

I’m guessing they’re so close because the supercharged one launches a little better, then the turbo pulls it in. Turbo truck has a flatter power curve, but has to build boost constantly, whether launching or shifting. I’m curious what the difference would be if the gears were split like others mentioned.

The blower is probably slower due to the Parasidic Drag, since the blower has to drain power from the engine to produce Psi, unlike the turbo that just uses Exhausting gasses

@@zeboy475 that's talking about an efficiency loss, you're forgetting about turbo lag. the blower had instant psi, while the turbo took a second or two to reach full psi. if he had used the overdrive gears to keep it in the powerband, the blower would've pulled ahead way quicker than the turbo.

@@-aid4084 Exactly. Supercharged engine had a narrower powerband but no lag, so the gears have to be closer to keep it 'on the boil,' and the extra shifts might not matter as much.

a major problem that happened were short shifting, meaning the engines were lugged. now if you were using the overdrive gear ratios as well it would keep it in the powerband, that's why it shifts so early.

It’s not even short shifting it’s that they’re skipping gears. Semis are 10-18 speeds, not 4. I drive a 10 speed and you’re in 9th around 35-40mph, they should be shifting way more If they used high and low range in a 10 speed they’d be shifting into high range (6th) around 20 mph

I'm a sucker for little mods like these, and that's the sort of stuff that keeps me playing beamNG. YES, even something as small as a supercharger on a specific vehicle can get me multiple hours of playtime.

"little favor" Can tell you don't make mods. My bet is he makes the mod, makes a video and doesn't use the mod much after that. With mods a lot of the time updates will break the mods. So then he'd have to go back and fix every mod that breaks on updates, there is almost no benefit of him releasing his mods. If he doesn't update the mod and it breaks on the update, people are just going to non stop complain.

That supercharger is set up wrong, shouldnt be building boost by rpm through the whole pull. Should reach peak boost and maintain throughout majority of pull. In reality youd change the pulley size

I remember making a base game T-series to push its limits, maxxed turbo and internals, it could without a load, rock and roll right past 100 mph and spin the tires in 1st, and the nos I had on it could only go for 10 seconds. Because the engine blows up after 10 seconds of nos.

In case you didn't know let me tell you something though, just because a 2-stroke diesel engine has a blower for air and exhaust scavenging doesn't exactly mean it is not naturally aspirated in this case since it is required for the engine to run properly and you could try to run a 2-stroke diesel without them but if it even does run it will run poorly and stall.

I wonder how much torque a Twin Charge setup would make cause a turbo creates pressure and a supercharger creates flow (that's why there were used in good old 2 strokes diesel engines) I wonder if you can make a 2 strokes engine and test the difference between a turbo and blower on a 2 strokes I wanna hear a 2 strokes diesel screaming in BeamNG lol

Superchargers create pressure, aka boost. The old 2 stroke diesels use what's called a scavenger blower, very similar but not the same. The old two stroke diesels can't run naturally aspirated because unlike your normal 4 stroke engine, they don't pump air so they wont push the exhaust out and pull fresh air in (scavenging). So, they used a roots type blower to do that. The roots type scavenger blower has two equal style rotors that do not compress air, instead they just draw in air providing the engine with the needed flow. They then added a turbo for boost. The "twin screw" supercharger, like what's on a Dodge Hellcat for instance, has two rotors that are designed to mesh with one another and compress the air forced between them, creating boost.

Superchargers are practically useless in developing power in diesels since they are low rpm beasts. There are 13L class diesels in the North American market that are producing 1800+ lb/ft of torque at just 900 rpms. They are geared for a 70mph cruise speed at just 1300rpm.

That depends on the pulley size, just gear the pulley to run supercharger at max speed when the engine is at max RPM. 70mph cruise does not need max boost anyway.
