Superchargers are definitely more linear and reliable than turbo chargers but turbo chargers give you more potential and the feeling of hitting boost in a turbo car is unmatched.

Nobody really tells you that centrifugal superchargers get all the lag of turbos without being connected to the exhaust. Roots and screw blowers though that's a whole different story instant power and torque.

So basically a super charger will blast out the door but lose power on the big end if your racing and a turbo will lag out the door but wooo make crazy power on the big end so tie is are better for racing and super charger is good for just showing out and making dig outs . No. A big single turbo will spool slower than TT. This is depending on the size of turbos your working with. But if the two systems produce similar peak HP the TT system should spool quicker overall.

Thanks, but I'll keep it simpler with increased displacement and higher compression, along with lower vehicle weight. Someday I'll rebuild my VQ37 in my 370z with a 4.3 liter bored and stroked engine with a 12:1 compression ratio. 8'm currently getting about 380 peak crank hp with an intake, exhaust and tune.

I didn't see it mentioned, but after a couple decades of turning bolts one thing that has really stood out to me regarding aftermarket turbos (and apologies for stating the obvious) is that NO aftermarket kit/company can approach the testing/QA/QC you get with a factory boosted car. This is really obvious with the turbo manifolds. So many manifolds crack and consider how many people are actually daily driving their boosted cars?? OEMs design their boost to get beat on. Aftermarket companies have a FEW test cars. Additionally, until somewhat recently, the ECU for aftermarket boost has always been inferior to OEM. We now have multiple options for very fast/realtime correction ECUs that are fast enough to save our motors. However, plug n' play solutions are still somewhat limited. If I were to add boost now, there is no way I'd use any ECU unless it was fast enough to use safeguards and save the engine.

When I got a bigger turbo for my RB30 I got a custom high rise manifold made. I would not consider an off the shelf or postal map. You need a tuneable ecu and get it tuned by a competent tuner on a dyno.

Just better fueling, ie injectors and pump for low boost. High boost, most cars will need atleast stronger rods.. you will need a tune regardless of boost added

In a full race scenario where you are changing above 5000 rpm the turbo will have less advantage.

In a full race scenario where you would spend more time above 5000RPM you would simply size up the turbochargers. You lose a bit down low, but will gain it up top in trade. Plus, unlike a supercharger there will be no belt slip, especially at higher RPM.

Great video, i just wanted to point out, in superchargers you have to replace the intake manifold with the supercharger, the supercharger is much safer on the car but not as effective as a turbo system, i have seen cars catch fire after few runs with turbos, also people seem to forget adding extra power means upgrading the cooling system and other internal parts, last one if car from factory did not come with Forced induction than it is not good idea to do it, i doubt VQ engine can handle 500+ on stock internals

Here's the simplest way to explain this. Turbos are far more efficient than superchargers, superchargers takes power to make power and usually runs a little cooler than turbos. Will modern technology now we have turbos with little to no turbo lag. Turbos usually will end up made more power than superchargers but at the end of the day it is the one with the deepest pockets will have the faster car. Turbos may be a little bit more expensive but the results will be night and day though.

Most twin turbo systems I've seen run for about 10k, supercharger kits aroubd 6-8k. A single turbo setup might fetch less, really depends on the kit.

Ive driven virtually everything. Ive yet to go in a turbo charged car that is fun to drive. Ive yet to go in a car that is supercharged that is not fun. Its night and day difference there is no comparison
