He's always been such a class act. My brother and sister lived on his street in the mid- late 90's. All the kids in the neighborhood used to go over to his house and he was nothing but a true and real guy talking and hanging out with them. Good guy all around....

McGrath is definitely the GOAT, i know I’m gonna get shit from the RC fans but how can you compete with 72 supercross total wins, 7 supercross champion ship titles and 2 world supercross championships? Easily my favorite racer and idol. I wasn’t alive for the golden era of motocross but I wish I was, I’m 15.

Greatest Supercross rider for sure, although Ricky is better at outdoors from what I've seen. Stewart will be known as the fastest although somewhat to his detriment though as he had a tendency to defeat himself.
@dawsonwalker6033
@dawsonwalker6033 6 жыл бұрын
BlackSn0wz yeah RC was better outdoors I’ll admit that, but for supercross McGrath is 150% the goat, and forsure Stewart is definitely one of the fastest but he couldn’t stay on the bike for the life of him, if he could’ve cut out more mistakes on race day then he might’ve had a shot at dethroning McGrath but that wasn’t the case.

If you remember, McGrath was a 1995 Outdoor Motocross champion as well! He was leading the Points in the 1996 outdoors and got injured do to a crash. (He would have won that year) He was also a 2 time Moto de Nations Winner. He Modified his contract and chose not to race out doors to spend more time at home. If Had he raced the outdoor series for more of his carrier I'm confident the he would have rack up several victories and possibly championships. Given the same opportunity to race/work half as much for the same pay, I may have done the same. MC was a great Champion.

Hey all of wonder how anyone gets or acquired their talent,but listening to Jack McGrath talk about Jeremy jumping antics when he was two or three wow that's an early start for a jumping career,most of when we 5 or 6 years old we couldn't focus on anything for long or consistently...the trouble talent the trick is to bring it out without fighting with the child's ego or self esteem so the kids wants to go forward,and yeah the talent has to be there too...it was cool to here the real story...thanks

P Bau he was that good, is he the goat of SX, you can’t argue with the stats, but each gen has its goat, Hannah was the goat and if not injured who knows what he would have done, he won 3 in a row first in a time when they’re was no 125 stepping stone class, if u wanted to race SX in the 70s and early 80s up to 85 you had to go to the 250 class it was far more competitive than Jeremy’s era, Hannah also like JMac also changed the game and had Ricky Johnson not got injured in 89 again who knows both he and Hannah were as good outdoors as indoors. That said Jeremy won his first senior SX title as a rookie in the 250 class against the reigning champ Stanton who was a 3x champ Bradshaw at the time was the wonder kid so it was a pretty good start, he definitely was the best in the 90s no question and you can only race your competition not the past, 8 senior titles and 2 125 SX indoor titles is still worthy of greatness and he was King of his era.

Maverick224, motocross is such a hard motorsport for the masses to lock on to as top riders leave the sport so quickly. McGrath's longevity brought a whole new fanbase as the casual observer now could associate an icon with the sport & more easily follow & cheer on. That is the one downfall to this great sport, our heros often exit in too short of time to become a household name. Everyone knows of McGrath if you mention motocross.
@maverick2242
@maverick2242 6 жыл бұрын
P Bau yes and no, in part what you say is true, but also it was the next step of televised exposure esspecially SX,yes he brought a whole new gen into the sport he was a new gen, that’s part natural, part timing also ground work laid by others. This is depending on age, the issue I have with these debates and why you or others in comparing should know they’re history research it if a true fan even of someone else, if you have been around in Hannah’s first coming pre injury Yamaha days this is exactly what made Hannah one of the greatest, he brought the masses to both SX but esp MX in a time where Televised exposure was limited at best, look st the crowds then compared to 90s and esp now, massive, look at any Unadilla footage when he rode 70s and 80s, he earns his fans they loved him and he loved them, it was well known even though he didn’t drink, he stayed esp after a MX Rd long after the other stars left with the fans hung out with them, he brought MX and SX kicking and screaming into the 80s he earnt nick name Hurricane on and off the track, listen to any interview esp by others, people either don’t know or forget how big he was, it’s the same in many sports, that’s taken nothing away from McGrath you can only live in your era, he was great and aim love watching him even now, but today’s fans even 90s underestimate how big he Hannah was to SX/ esp MX back then, Media Television has clouded that exposure by easier access in later generations.

Desert Brewcrew MXKied! #3 was my rider! Watched LaRocco and Kiedrowski blast past a crashed McGrath at the 1995 Atlanta Supercross and the place went wild. Our butts didn’t hit the seats again till the race was over! The energy was unbelievable in the Georgia Dome that night. 6 days later, a friend and I road tripped it down to Gainesville, Fl. For the opening round of the outdoor nationals and watched McGrath, Kiedrowski, Albertyn, and LaRocco put on a serious show at Gatorback Cycle Park. Good times. And two strokes ruled! Brraapp! Thanks for the comment.

This makes me feel old. I remember McGrath getting busted with the previous year's CR250 because he liked the way it performed so much. I believe it was in '95, the color scheme being the white chromemoly frame with neon pink and purple too. He sure looks young in this one and since he's riding a 125cc he probably was still a young champion.

absolutely not. He rode a CR '93 from 93 to 95. In 96 he was forced to ride the new model year frame (cromoly). In 97 Honda introduced the aluminum frame and Jeremy got arm pump "Like the first time i jumped from a BMX to a motorcycle". He flied to Japan and the Honda Management made him an offer without the permission to ride jet ski or other vehicle not-honda (Jeremy was previously caught riding Yamaha waterkrafts). Thus Jeremy did not sign up and after a while Roger De Coster phoned with an offer to sign with Suzuki
