@mastod0n16 ай бұрын
Those people just can't comprehend that other people might not listen to the same music that they do. A world famous touring drummer probably isn't listening to the top rock songs on the radio. I always say look at the billboard charts from whatever year the song was released and look at the songs that did better, which implies it was played more, and ask yourself if you know the song. You almost definitely heard it at least once, but do you remember it? For example "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol outperformed "The Kill" on the charts and I can't even remember how the melody goes.

Back in the late 90s I was in a band in Dallas (fit in with nu-metal, groove metal, funk metal, rapcore types). We had a chance to hang with Chad after a demonstration he did at a local Guitar Center. His power on the drums is amazing and his feel is unbelievable. We had the opportunity to open for and play with some amazing musicians (Korn/Dave, Deftones/Abe, Pantera/Vin, and a few others). They were all amazing to watch, but nobody was as fun as Chad. He loves to jam, and he's really an impressive student of the art of creating music. His ear is amazing and I have no doubt this is his first time hearing this. He's totally keyed off of Jared in the song and listening for vocal cues that signal a change. He doesn't guess it perfect every time, but he adapts so quickly it looks intentional. He's a fun guy and a much better musician than he probably has gotten credit for. It's hard when you're in a band with guys like Flea and John to stand out, because it's such a talented pool of artists, but Chad is great. One thing that always gets me is how hard he hits. His kit is probably the most reinforced and stabilized (structurally) setup I've ever seen. He literally kicks so hard he backs the bass drum up if it isn't locked down. Amazing to match that kind of power with such great feel. Just a lot of fun to watch this. Probably my favorite Drumeo vid to date.

A key of why he was able to pull this is the shuffles he sometimes does between beat. If you see closely he does it when he's not sure how the song will continue, so the silence in the triplet of the shuffle earns him some time to think and recognize potential new beats
