Hi Lee John, thank you so much for providing these lessons. As a beginner they are greatly appreciated. I really loved part 1 of the solo and without trying to be critical, I feel a disconnect between the 2 videos. In some ways part 1 seemed more advanced. This one really just focussed on the 5th position of the minor pentatonic scale. I'm hoping in part 3 you will pick up again on part 1 and delve more into combining strumming chords with picking related notes. Particularly how to get rhythm in the notes. I can strum an A chord then pick the 4 notes in the box at the 5th and 7th frets, but I cannot make it sound anywhere near as musical as you do! Thanks again.

Loving these technical lessons lately brother! (Copyright wont hold the SuperEasyGuitarists down 💪) I've said it before but you really are a great guitar teacher, not just an average KZbin teacher. I actually feel like you care when you record your lessons, not just pumping out videos for the sake of views or whatevers popular. Keep up the great work man, you've got some students out there that are getting good because of you ;)

I have a hard time making my solos sound like anything. I know how to hammer on and pull of, vibrato. I just can’t get it to sound like anything. Any suggestions?
@leejohnblackmoremusic
@leejohnblackmoremusic 5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you're improvising randomly. Start with simple phrases, give yourself no more than 4 notes, make it sound relative to what you're trying to do. For example come up with a short melody/phrase or pattern and just repeat it in places where you think it could work. Also learning actual guitar solos from other songs will unlock a few secrets that you're missing. Playing solos isn't about hammer ons pull offs etc, they are just techniques that help us communicate a bit more emotion. It's all about putting emotion into the notes. Listen to the guitar intro solo from Estranged( Guns N Roses) the emotion of what the guitars doing sets up the entire song up against the piano. It's not random notes, it's putting you in the context of the song. You must think about guitar solos in this way, you have to convey something, a message. Random notes played overly fast will just sound like random notes overly fast. Even when you listen to Eddie Van Halen he will play random notes and random phrases but he will link them together so they create something that makes sense ... most of the time anyway. Good luck and keep going👍

If you're in the key of Aminor then you can play play an A minor pentatonic or if you start on the second note of the pentatonic you can play a C major which is the relative major of Aminor

There is more than 1 scale so you might be playing a guitar solo that could consist of 5 scales. I feel by answering this question I will only confuse you more. Think of a guitar solo as an expression of notes, forget about the boundaries of scales.
