Hi Gary I agree with you . I am a Christian and live in NZ and I am a poet and painter . I read Francis Shaeffer's book 30 years ago 'Addicted to mediocrity" which challenged myself and other creative Christians. We have our creator living in us so why not reflect the best. We are called to be amazing.

This is SO true! I was blessed hearing this, but this is also something I had pondered. If God can use literally ANYTHING to glorify him (obviously, not including demonic practices or symbols) then there should be no limit. Rap music can glorify God without saying the word Jesus. Abstract art can glorify God. I mean...scientific fiction, fantasy...they can ALL glorify God if done in the right heart. God is awesome!

It can glorify Him once it doesnt break any of His principles in His word. If it breaks His precepts then it is not glorifying Him. Because remember it is about Him. Not us and our desires. If we desire to please Him but it MUST be done in how He prescribes. somestimes some believers get too liberal with their creativity it crosses a line.. So Yes, we emulate Him in all we do, even if world doesnt "get it". After all none come unless He pulls them. That why we dont have to compromise when evangelising with our creativity..

God just shows me this last night in Luke 8 that’s so crazy that I’m watching this! I’ve probably read that chapter dozens of times before but still never completely understood what Jesus was talking about when he said that it’s not for them to know. I thought he was just withholding himself. You’re awesome thank you!

Thank you so much for this video it's very much needed. If we are playing it safe, not being innovative, and desiring to be accepted by the world, then we aren't fulfilling our calling in general, but especially as creative individuals. God has given us each unique lives, qualities, and mentalities for a reason. We're meant to stand out but with God's guidance and inspiration! The verses that came to mind while watching are ones that Christians should keep in the forefront of our minds as artists: Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” Colossians 3:23 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

I love how God gets past the “watchful dragons” in all of us through the beauty in his creation. That is why I love to paint seascapes, landscapes and forests... people can see Gods goodness through his invisible qualities, eternal power and divine nature he has hidden in plain sight in the created world around us.

Check out Makajo Fujimura, Brian Zandh, David Bentley Hart or Esther Meek on this. There's so much greatness to discover here. All the earth is holy ground. Art is not 'propaganda' for God, the earth itself is worshiping God and we don't need to let our art have a 'clear message' or 'clear goal' to let it draw people to God. Like the walnut, that's so great!

Christian artists should be everywhere, taking back art which has been so perverted by the world. And how will the people in these places hear about Jesus unless we are there working alongside them, the shining light to them. I hope my puny art in water color will somehow reach my family and friends.

I struggle a lot with this but I remember my pastor saying something about Paul also doing this. In Acts 17:16-34, Paul doesn't speak of Jesus' sacrifice. He meets the people halfway by first explaining who God is. Maybe this doesn't tie in well with the point of the video but it does show that Paul had to use a different approach to share the gospel.

My daughter and I have been talking about this. Christians should be the absolute best. We need to be giving God our BEST. Our material as artists should be masterpieces!!!! I see people who aren't Christians put more into their art.

Ok... I'm confused. I believe every talent ppl have are gifts from God and when we use those gifts to glorify Him ...even better! I understand the end about the watchful dragons.. but the beginning of his speech didn't seem to fit with the rest. I also believe we are Gods children thus God is pleased when we do things in his honor and satisfied if we give all we can bc God knows our limitations and our heart.. maybe I misunderstood the beginning.. idk.. it's just the first paragraph or so he had me almost offended.. sorry if I totally misunderstood..

@@tyram3691 Yes of course you and your family and friends will continue to pray. I know that many questions and even doubts may try to get inside. Especially when things happen to those so young. No human spoken words can 'physically' bring her back. Please remember the good times and savor and cherish them. While it may or may not take time for you to "know" why things like this happen, it is perfectly fine to ask Jesus "why". However, it is the "how" we ask Him that truly matters. Ask in "humble love" vs in anger. I personally can attest that in any relationship, especially with our Almighty, ask and then listen quietly and soak in peace that understanding will be yours. God Bless!!

Let's face it, few artists are inspired by their Creator, and even if they are they would have to be top professionals in what they do to do justice to create work for the ALMIGHTY.
@jenna24315 жыл бұрын
When you start off your thoughts on C.S. Lewis, you lose it. He was just another Christian who didn't mind incorporating the world and also other religions ("The Tao") and thought exactly nothing of it. The Almighty, however, has other standards--that of NOT mixing his glory with another is one. Christian art is terrible because it's Christian--meaning an invented religion that purposefully threw away the Word of the Creator called the Torah has and is NOTHING. You see this in the decline of the church today--at a time when men's hearts are failing the for the horror of the world around us, you see this in the continual parades of new programs and new approaches. People need the truth--the same truth from the beginning is still applicable to now. And yet Christians all say "That was done away with."
@KeishaSalmonArtist5 жыл бұрын
What people need is a knowledge of God and Jesus Christ. I don't agree with mixing light and darkness in what you are teaching as only the truth can make you free. I do believe you have to get close to those you are looking to save. Jesus ate with sinners and tax collectors because they were the ones who needed what he has to offer. Those who respond, those who choose follow Jesus are known as Christians (follower of Christ) Nothing false about that.
