I always thought that what the show gave me as truth, and then I saw a KZbin video essay explaining how this show had made her into a carbon copy of Superman. I was disappointed that we didn’t get her own story. The show would’ve done better I think if they made her her own character. We’ve already had Smallville. Kara Zor-el deserved better!

What I mean by that is, because she’s so young, and because she knows what Krypton was like before it blew up, only for her to loose her family, friends, as well as time. That would make anybody really angry. In the comics, Supergirl feels completely distant from humans and our culture, she’s sees the beauty but also the pain we bring to each other, but unlike her cousin whose always compassionate, Supergirl has a lot of pain and anger inside that she still struggles to grapple with. And because she didn’t spend her whole life holding back like Clark, her powers are more raw and sometimes Supergirl is stronger than Superman in many cases. There’s so much to her character and personality and so much beauty in the fact that even tho she’s not as compassionate or as happy go lucky like Clark, she still has the heart of an El, and will always protect people.

Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor was a surprisingly good choice. After seeing him on two and a half men I never thought he could do it - but he is a far better actor then I ever gave him credit for. It was pretty amazing they brought back everyone who pretty much stared on this show in the final episode. I know some people on KZbin hated it but I did like it.

I'm glad Lena and Supergirl got their issues straightened out, they worked so well together, I'm also glad she never turned out to be a true Luther and stayed true to her beliefs. About that line, it kind of doesn’t make sense to me. The best way I can interpret it is when Eliza said “you’d think in another life I’d be a kryptonian“ is before she took in Kara, she and Jeremiah Danvers helped Superman understand his powers while he was growing up, and did the same for Kara when they took her in. At the same time, they studied Kara and Clark a lot, enough that they would know so much about kryptonians, their physiology and their biology that it’s as if they were or are used to be kryptonian‘s themselves, especially Eliza. And when Alex said “only in the movies,” she meant that she thought Eliza meant that either in a past life she really was a kryptonian and reincarnated as a human or maybe Alex thinks that she thinks that Eliza might’ve been a kryptonian all along and Eliza didn’t know about it. Alex thinks stuff like that only happens in the movies, hence why she said it.

Oh scratch the interpretation of “only in the movies.” I think what would have made a lot more sense is when Eliza said “you’d think in another life I was a kryptonian” and Alex thought what Eliza would only happen in the movies. Or more specifically Alex thought that the only way Eliza, her mother, would be a kryptonian is if she starred is Supergirl in a movie made in the universe. Oh boy, I liked this season, but it needed some polishing in some areas, especially here, and a bigger CGI budget or less CGI. And whoever gave Alex that "no touching" line needs a lesson in superhero onliners. A line like that can work but not like that. "Nuh-uh, no touchy." There, it's not that hard.

I, in spite of all reason, looked at it again. And my opinion hasn't changed. This is the most ridiculous battle since the finale of the Crisis of infinite earths. They could have made so much out of Supergirl, but they didn't. A waste of great opportunities. That doesn't make me happy. On the contrary. Why did it have to be so bad? Didn't anyone care? Did everyone just want to do it quickly and run away? I expected much more from the Maid of Steel.🙄
