Personally, I am looking forward to the Fifth new season of "Supergirl" with new stories and some familiar characters based on the "Superman" comic book series. I am disappointed, however, that in 2018 there was NO episode of "Supergirl" devoted to the 80th anniversary of the Man of Steel from the issue of "Action Comics" in 1938. Other than that, I have mixed feelings about the new "Supergirl" costume for Melissa Benoist, even though I was unaware that there has been cold weather in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and that might be the only reason for the new costume for the Girl of Steel.

No, you don't need to explain. The analogy is perfectly apt. Both characters are incredibly complex, having survived an incredible amount of abuse and trauma, only to carve their own powerful identity-- which is always at war with itself. GOT writers needed to end the show, so they took the lowest road possible (so many options they had for leaving possibilities open, i.e., Daenerys takes off with her troops, leaving Jon in charge of King's Landing... they battle, later, when Dany is burning cities, etc..) Supergirl writers would be very foolish to go "full Luthor" with Lena, have her killed off, and close off that multi-street intersection of where these characters could go-- even if they're played by all new people in the future. Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, and Katie McGrath are establishing very well defined, if not complex, characters... it would be easy for future actors (and writers) to pick up where they leave off, *IF* they do the right thing, now.
