SUPERGIRL Cast Panel - Wizard World Virtual Experiences 2020

CW Supergirl actors Mehcad Brooks, Jesse Rath, Sam Witwer, Helen Slater, Erica Durance and Nicole Maines gave a virtual panel through Wizard World Virtual Experiences 2020 to talk about the show, their careers and answer fan questions.
Mehcad Brooks is Jimmy Olsen on Supergirl, but is also known for True Blood, Necessary Roughness, Desperate Housewives, Glory Road, The Deep End and My Generation.
Jesse Rath plays Brainiac-5 in Supergirl, but can also be seen in No Tomorrow, Defiance, The Brief, Being Human, Mudput and Aaron Stone.
Sam Witwer portrayed Ben Lockwood / Agent Liberty in Supergirl, but is also known for Smallville, Being Human, Battlestar Galactica, Riverdale, Once Upon a Time and his voice acting for Star Wars in particular, most famously for Darth Maul in The Clone Wars and Rebels.
Helen Slater is Eliza Danvers in Supergirl, but also played Supergirl herself in the 1984 movie. She has also had roles on Smallville, Supernatural, The Lying Game and provided voice acting for DC Super Hero Girls and Batman: The Animated Series.
Erica Durance plays Alura Zor-El on Supergirl, but is well known as Lois Lane on Smallville, plus her roles in The Butterfly Effect 2, Saving Hope, Stargate SG-1, House of the Dead and Andromeda.
Nicole Maines portrays Nia Nal / Dreamer on Supergirl, a role she also brought over to an episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. She’s also known for Royal Pains and Bit.

This is great. I love Supergirl and Smallville so much! Also, it is really awesome that the DC TV universe is so committed to bringing back actors/actresses from earlier shows and paying homage to their shared histories. Erica is my favorite Lois Lane, she is amazing! Also Sam Witwer plays a great villain; if you like his work in Supergirl and haven't seen the Davis Bloom season of Smallville, it's definitely worth checking out (as is the whole series). Brainy and Dreamer are one of my favorite couples on TV and I'm so proud to watch a show like Supergirl that is always striving to show us how good we can be, and projects the best aspects of humanity and inclusion. Nicole and Jesse are adorable! I need to go back and watch the original Supergirl series at some point but Helen is great as Kara's mom on the current iteration and as Kal-El's mom in Smallville. And Mehcad, you are missed dude! I hope we get to see James on the show again at some point even if it is just an episode or two.

I always liked Sam Witwer as a voice actor for his roles as Starkiller, Palpatine, and Maul, but I think he became one of my favorite actors with his portrayal as Ben Lockwood. He turned what could have easily been a clear cut villain into a man who’s struggling with his losses and trying to “make the world safer” for his own family. They could’ve easily gone down the route of a bigot, but instead they chose to make home layered. And Sam Witwer was such a good actor for that, with his previous work as previously mentioned Starkiller and Maul.

I wish the Danvers’ sisters were in this, but I get that Melissa was busy. I’m happy for her and I hope that she, Chris, and the new baby will be a very happy family together! As for Chyler, IDK why she wasn’t there but if she didn’t want to, I totally understand. Just like we need privacy, celebrities need it too! There are always paparazzi trying to get pictures of them wherever they go. So I get if Chyler didn’t want to to be on there. I wish that Mehcad will come back for season 6 even if it is just for one episode, I wanna see Brania get back together, I wanna see more scenes with Melissa and Erica, I want Kelly and Alex to stay together, I definitely want a lot more Karamel scenes as well as for Mon-el to stay in the past instead of going back to the future with the Legionaries, I want Helen to have more scenes with Melissa and Chyler, the list goes on but if I say everything you are going to be here for a week.

I love Mehcad but James was a boring character that they didnt know what to do with him by season 5. He worked well in the first season but after that when I watched the episodes I kept wanting them to switch from whatever James' storyline was back to the main story. I'd love for him to guest star in future seasons for an episode or two (like Winn last season) but nothing more than that. I would love for Jeremy to come back as a regular though.

Sarah Higgins I hear you. I thought he served as interesting connective tissue to the Superman story-especially in s1. Also, I liked the relationship w Kara, & I thought that having them both (spoilers) simultaneously decide ‘never mind’ at the start of s2 was a huge fake-out that insults the viewers’ intelligence. But maybe there eventually wasn’t much for the James character to do on the show. & maybe he’d work better as a recurring character. I, too, miss Winn on the show. Ok, maybe I am just being a woman, but, I prefer Brainy to not be green, or blue, only in case of emergency, like Dr. Banner turning into Incredible Hulk, because, man, Jesse Rath is too damn handsome for that! I much prefer the handsome dreamy brown eyes and dark hair! So much of a pleasure to the eyes! I hope to see next season, a strong and witty Brainy return. I hated what happened to him in the last scene of Season 5, but moving! Liked the idea that Brainy has a heart, but, I think his logic left when he pulled that stunt going into that poisonous chamber to do the shrink job. No more crises on earth please, we have one now, too close to home! Science fiction is becoming a reality! I do like some stability, would like to see a return of the SuperGirl team/family, yes, I did like the DEO, but new, crazy adventure is always welcome!

I'll say this. The show is absolutely terrible, but I watch it every single week because I consider Melissa Benoist to be Supergirl. I can promise you that there will never be another person who can be Supergirl. I won't even watch a Supergirl movie if Benoist isn't Supergirl. The writers should all be fired. All the politics promoted in the show completely ruins everything, even viewership. Buy Melissa Benoist is the ONLY person who can be Supergirl. Y'all MUST get rid of all the trash and bring the show up to the top 10 show in all TV. And I believe wholeheartedly that with the right writers it really can be a hugely successful series, better than everything else in all TV. I believe it!

@@FandomSpotlite Let me clarify one thing about that. Melissa Benoist is the perfect Supergirl, but I think the writers are ruining the character and the show and the entire mythos of her. A REALLY GOOD team of writers are needed to reinvent the show and the character before it goes off air. I think she and the show have way too much potential for them to let it remain like this. The first time Supergirl ever has any measure of success and a team of writers and a producer, apparently, with political agendas ruin it for everybody. I really hate that. We don't want a new show, only that they fix this one. THIS SHOW should be primetime television by the time it goes off air, to leave a good aftertaste so that another Supergirl show or movie can be desirable. After that dumb movie nobody wanted Supergirl anything. Thia show is going to keep that same distaste when it leaves, and I don't like that, as a fan of Supergirl and Melissa Benoist.
