First and foremost I'm fucking excited for Supergirl. I've already seen the pilot and I can't wait for more. I know Supergirl will scrutinized and criticized for every little thing and one of the main reasons for that is because this show has a female lead. People are already complaining that she's too girly, well what's wrong with having a bubbly girly girl as Supergirl? Because to me it's perfectly fine, not every superhero needs to be hardcore, strict, and absolutely no sense of humor this is Supergirl not Batman. I may have not read the comics, but can people please be patient and wait for some character development. Supergirl isn't going to be an angry ball of rage right off the bat. And can I just say it's about god damn time that there is finally a female representation of a superhero in the media. There has always been countless movies and TV shows of male superheroes, but to my knowledge this is the first female one and to that I say thank you Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg.

Bunnii Because Kara is not like that. I can understant in Arrow them differing from the comics because they wanted to develop Oliver slowly, as its not realistic for a character just of an island for 5 years to be funny/happy. Arrow is about Oliver's journey to becoming the Green Arrow. Supergirl is just about Supergirl. She should be angry not happy. So far she is just Superman as a girl.

I completely understand why they talk about it being a female led show, but I still hate that there's such a spotlight on it. It means people won't judge the show on its own merits - it's always going to be seen through that lens. I hope that as the show develops, that stuff fades into the background and it just becomes about the story.

It's strange really, cos back in the days of Xena, Buffy, Alias, etc, there never seemed to be so much emphasis placed on the fact that they were action/adventure shows that had a female lead. It only seems to be in recent years, and in particular in the superhero genre, that it's become such a big deal and arguably put even more pressure on a show like Supergirl to succeed.

Symon2099 I think those roles were really fitting for woman. I preferably was a big Xena fan And at the time those New Zealand series were popular also.. And Xena was not the cute type at all! They compensated that with adding Gabrielle. Supergirl actually can work based on what i have seen on the pilot, but they need to give her more spunk, guts, confidence building with every new episode, yet still keep her sweet and dorky.

Sk88p I agree. I think that's the direction there going. In the pilot we saw her coming out party after hiding her abilities for 10 years she in the process of figuring out what she's caperable off. We'll find out in episode 3 when she faces her most dangerous for yet( Reactron) is the golden heart. By the way I was a huge Demand fan and there are rumors of a movie or TV show Lucy has already said she's on board.

I LOVE CHYLER LEIGH IN THE PILOT! Cant wait to STAN the fuck out for this show! The only good dc tv show this past year has been The Flash and iZombie, Arrow and all them other shows have been garbage. But after watching this strong debut to the series, hopefully Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow can join The Flash. Arrow is trash now, and I hope they are able to redeem a once decent show, but I'm doubtful.

I noticed that, one big connection between the two is that in their first major fight, both heroes are going against people who mention and play up on their insecurities. The only thing I disliked about the pilot episode was big confident jimmy Olsen. I don't care that he's black even though I think they just did it to appease whiny people. But they said her being a woman is irrelevant to them, she's a hero first. That's totally not what the pilot conveys. They talk ad nauseum about the fact she is female. I think a truly modern and refreshing female hero would be one whom it isn't even noted or discussed on-screen as being female. There was no constant talk about Laurel/Sara being female in their Canary guises. Nor even the fact that Buffy was female. Supergirl pilot was the worst kind of feminism. The kind written by somebody obsessed with looking feminist but going too far to try and prove themselves.

Marvin Jefferson Perhaps someday when the show is humming along with pretty good ratings (ON CBS of all networks), the EPs can convince WB, DC, and CBS to do a TV movie or 90 min. special featuring a team-up with Batgirl similar to a late 1990s BTAS episode, if I remember correctly. But cartoons are one thing. Live action is totally another. By the way, WB Games did a decent job with Batgirl in that new DLC just released, so she is still a relevant character to promote in today's comic book fandoms.

Wesley Wayner I agree that animation is one thing & live action another, and so is TONE. This SUPERGIRL looks bright and cheesy as DAWSONS CREEK and every other TELEVISION SOAP. I would say they should rethink the audience as the BATGIRLS story is still fresh and although greatly underrated it could be HIGHLY COHESIVE with the DC big screen UNIVERSE FINALLY looking more promising.
