Hey Zen, I'm not a racer like you, but I understand the need for a good helmet with wide vision. I've searched high and low, and came across the Shark Evojet (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnSuoKGni7Frg5I This helmet is motorcycle grade (ECE certified), has better vision than my downhill MTB helmet, has a flip-up modular design (so you have have a latte and speak directly into your mic while riding), a built-in sun visor, it cheaper than the the TSG helmet, and it weighs relatively light (at 1.45kg) compared to other motorcycle helmet. It is however a road helmet so your nose/chin is very close the chinbar therefore I don't recommend face planting on this (like a cut-out, yikes!). I like this helmet because it fulfils so many functions for me but I normally wear my MTB helmet if I'm expecting to do some off-roading. My head measures 58cm and it is true to size for a medium. Being able to flip it up means I don't have to smudge my makeup when I'm putting it on. Gotta look good while riding! Lol. Maybe give this helmet a try if you can overlook some of it cons.

The new Leatt Knee Guards are great. They are equipped with rubber in the backside so they don’t slide up and down your legs AND aesthetically look much better. They don’t have that knuckle appearance over the knee

It was nice talking with you about gear earlier. Glad to see you're gearing up properly for the race! The new gen Leatt knee pads are amazing, they feel like next level compared to the old ones in every way. I will be ordering the short sleeve version as well for chest armor.

Oh, the perils of the spinning wheel - I was just looking at my calves this morning and there is still an angry red scar on one of them from that darned spinning and a pedal clip to the calf.

Thanks bro. Just messed up my shoulder off-roading on the Lynx. I need something to completely protect my shoulders as they've been beat up over the years. Any recommendations on the best shoulder protection? My supraspinatus myscle is bruised/sprained which means 8 months+ of healing/rehab. Are your recommendations the gold standard for shoulder protection?

regarding using a backpack, fill it up with foam or something else soft and light and also the shape of it might actually make you faster since it reduces drag from your body when going fast..

@@ZenLee I face planted hard off a blind off-road 5 foot drop turn using the 509 Altitude 2.0 Carbon Fiber 3K helmet I just got that morning. My GoPro took the brunt (still works except for back screen), but my head was fine brushed off after a minute and got back to riding. I think that caliber helmet saved my jaw and is super light with great visability so carbon might be the way to go.

It's not DOT rated because DOT doesn't certify skydiving helmets 🙂 It's a few bucks more but (not an affiliate, just a customer) I love my Bonehead Dynamic - zero wind noise, slips through the air, helmet is not visible when you are wearing it, windscreen is made of some voodoo that simply won't fog and resists fingerprints, feather light - they can come built ready for comms, and they also make 3/4 helmets with open and closed ear formats (also wind tunnel tested of course). I can drink, from a cup, pretty comfortably, through the front of the full face helmet when the screen is up - no lie

Zen Lee: we talked about my veteran Patton spin out. Your example is NOT what happened to me. I stepped off the wheel, the wheel didn't dip more than 55-60 degrees and it spun out at max speed violently ! It spun so fast the wheel, tire, pedals, clipped my hand, inner thigh and calf and ankle I thought everything was broken. I wasn't riding at speed or at an angle, I was riding on flat dirt, slow and turning , as 1 foot stepped off, the wheel dipped slightly , I put both hands on wheel as anyone would stepping off their wheel. Only this time the wheel spun out violently , spinning like an ice skater, max speed! No cut out, the wheel tipped ever so slightly around 55 dg or so and the the wheel hit the gas full throttle! spinning like a Mary go round! Again I was going slow to step off the wheel like you would any wheel, I owned 2 wheels previous to this and was recently on my friend's master, and another friend's EX, This was different.I have alerted many people but no one has addressed what my wheel did. It spun out at max speed when you tilt the wheel ever so slightly! and kept spinning! too many videos not enough answers. for a $3,200 machine, I thought I was getting a quality machine, and so far I have nothing but incompetency from people who should have answers.

Hmm... Its very hard to visualize what your saying as I don't think anyone in the history of EUC has had this problem, if I'm understanding your statement correctly. I'll read again.
@ZenLee8 ай бұрын
Sounds like your pedal angle was TOO High, maybe you had set at like 70 or above, the wheel kept spinning because the angle didn't deactivate it, which is the safety feature to keep wheels for spinning out of control like yours did.
@ghostdancer99938 ай бұрын
@@ZenLeenow you guys have me thinking of changing my Patton cutout angle (70) beacuse I do a lot of off-road burms and skateparks. I've had one issue slipping backwards on a kitty litter super steep downhill (cactus garden hawes mtb trail)where the cutout didn't kick in right away and messed up the trail a bit I was fine but I guess I was lucky from what I'm reading..
