As a Swedish chef, I can confirm that this is how its made. Little unknown fact is that we don't have to worry about egg shells or anything like that getting into the food, as they remove themselves by the sheer pressure of our rage.

I've also seen people add meatballs, red beets, tomatoes, avocado, chicken, bacon... the possibilities are endless!

If you outside sweden are gonna do this smörgårds cake, you to have to use a lot of creme freiche/mayo/cream on every layer and let it sit for like 24h so the bread is fully drenched and easy chewy. Otherwise its not good and dry
