Two of negative comments about Superior Walls is the potential for water leaks at the vertical seams and possible drainage issues underneath the subsequent slab. For the former, do you also apply a water sealant to the exterior perimeter a/o a dimple mat. And, for the latter, do you install perforated piping underneath your stone base to help evacuate water underneath the slab? I am hoping my builder is comfortable with this solution for my forever home! I am a big fan!

Thank you for your thoughtful question and for being a fan of Superior Walls! Both concerns are important, and we take additional steps to ensure the system performs exceptionally well and keeps your foundation dry. 1. Vertical Seams & Exterior Waterproofing: Superior Walls are engineered to be watertight, and the seams are sealed during installation with a high-performance one-part polyurethane sealant. Some customers choose to add a dimple mat or spray-on waterproofing, however this is not a requirement from Superior Walls. Third-party ICC testing has been done on all of the components that make up the system to verify its effectiveness. 2. Under-Slab Drainage: We address potential drainage issues under the slab by ensuring a proper base of clean, compacted stone that helps with water movement. We DO require a perimeter drain to be installed as part of warranting from sidewall water penetration. The important detail on the perimeter drain pipe is that the invert elevation of the pipe is below the bottom of wall elevation and buried in the stone that makes up the stone footing path of Superior Walls. The simple physics of this system in conjunction with well-draining backfill material is that you want water to travel the path of least resistance. If groundwater or runoff from the roof flows straight down to the perimeter drainpipe, water has no chance of building hydraulic pressure and being able to pass laterally. All of this information and more can be found in our Builders Guideline Booklet, which you can find at the below link. www.superiorwalls.com/resources/documents-center/ I’m confident that with the right planning and your builder’s attention to these details, your Superior Walls foundation will provide a strong, dry, and reliable base for your forever home.
