Sukhoi Superjet 100 or SSJ100 is a regional jet airliner developed by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft in the 2000s. The first brand new ariliner made in Russia in the XXI century. The plane typically seats 87 to 98 passengers and is powered by two PowerJet SaM146 turbofans developed by a joint venture between French Safran and Russian NPO Saturn. By Decenmer 2018 nearly 170 airliners have been delivered.

@@kendallwi If you compare this plane with the Bombardier production, only the C series of Bombardier planes or the new Airbus A220 have a similarity. Then, tell us how the Sukhoi SSJ-100 that took off on May 15, 2008 could be a copy of Bombardier C whose program was launched two months later on July 15, 2008!? Apparently, when the Canadians saw this Russian beauty they came up with a "great idea" and start their own program and completely copied the Russian plane into their C series! But, the bigger problem is your ignorance of these facts, and still you comment, or even more bad, you know these facts but completely ignore them and lie! But, again, that is completely normal behavior of representatives of Western "culture"!

Brussels Airlines had a wet lease from Cityjet on these SSJ100s to replace their old Avro RJ100s. The lease lasted from April 2017 to January of this year, when it was ended prematurely, as the planes' operations were plagued by delays, mostly due to being grounded for lack of available spare parts. They're now wet leasing CRJ-900s and CRJ-1000s to fill the gap. As you articulated in the video, there are some issues with after sale service and spare parts availability.

Great video. I was one of the instructors tasked with training of the test pilots for this aircraft back in the day. Those pilots were required to get certified on aircraft with fly-by-wire technology, something they did in our simulator center in Amsterdam (FSC). My candidates were Italian, but I forget the story behind that. Anyway, we trained them in and got them certified on the A320. I always loved the way the SSJ looked, and those test pilots showed me lots of pictures. Nice to see them here on this video too. Thanks for sharing. Jan.

I have to say I really like flying the the Superjet. It feels quite roomy, it's not noisy like the soviet era planes and for some reason I sleep like a baby in it, maybe that has something to do with it flying at a lower altitude (Moscow - Helsinki route) than the long haul flights. From a passenger point of wiev, I give it a solid 8/10.

Aunque tiempo después Interjet quedo al descubierto como una compañía que debía dineros a todos, incluido al servicio de mantenimiento de sus aeronaves. , ..

As it is noted in many comments here, the plane is overall good but it lacks proper after-sales support. Another issue that hasn't been mentioned here yet is a serious technological issue with SaM146 engines, on the part of the French manufacturer. It leads to a necessity to re-install some engines prematurely after a few years of use, and for airlines to have a significant stock of reserve engines. The issue is an unexpected one, and Safran is unwilling to solve it quickly because it's not of their priority.

Apparently it seems the cause of the recent crash was either a lighting strike or pilot error. Whatever the case may be. It's a pretty nice jet. IMO I'd rather fly that than than a 737 MAX. Hats off to the Russians though! Glad to see them making a comeback in airliners. It's been boring with just Boeing and Airbus for the past 3 decades. More competition is welcome in my book.

Read about Soviet airplane crashes. You will hardly find accidents related to design flaws. Read about Airbus and Boeing airplane crashes. Every third one was because of bad engine design, bad sensor design/application, bad software, bad ...

I had wanted to fly the SSJ100 to Dresden, but it was so much cheaper to fly to Berlin on a 737 and take a train to Dresden, 70 USD from and to Berlin, plus a three hour bus trip from and to Dresden VS. 300 USD directly from Dresden... @RB747domme
@RB747domme 5 жыл бұрын
Redlock Sadly, it comes down to a handful of factors, which are undesirable in the aviation market. The poor, or sparse after sales maintenance teams worldwide are a major factor in the lack of orders. Secondly the fixtures and fittings soon became known as flights stallers. Meaning basically, that every time a door jammed or wouldn't close properly, or there was an electrical fault preventing the on-board entertainment systems from working, or just problems with toilets that wouldn't flush, or a system fault on the flight deck - it would prevent a plane from taking off. Passengers had to change planes in order to fulfill the flight which would often mean the flight operating at a loss. Once this reputation has spread throughout the aviation world, airlines were reluctant to place orders, and options withdrawn. It's almost impossible to recover from this situation, and even after heavily discounting the plane, orders simply dried up. There might be nothing wrong with the basic design of the aircraft, but it's the details that count. You have to get every little thing right, and tested to perfection and a reputation gained. With good economy, solid engineering and reliability, and worldwide maintenance bases fully staffed and equipped, the aircraft could be a nice runner and compete with similar offerings from Airbus and Boeing. But once the seeds were sown, it's impossible to dig them up.

Their business plan wasn't ready for dealing with these regionals that fly the wings off of their aircraft. Some of these regionals are flying almost 24/7. Great looking airplane. I hope the supply issues can get worked out. I hope ‘Amodel’ makes a kit in 1/72 scale.

Flew twice with this one, it’s comfy but a bit on the noisy side, but the seats in economy are comfy. I work on the ramp and we se these daily and as an outstation we found an interesting high number of AOGs, as the station lacks a certified mechanic and Aeroflot skips on Airbuses or Boeings due to the low traffic.

Unfortunately, this plane has been overtaken by the Airbus A220 (neé Bombardier C-Series), which will soon be built at two factories in North America. The A220 has even more modern engines and the same wider fuselage design pioneered by the SSJ 100.

@@bennievalmarie3878 You sure can. But long term, those two SSJs will probably cost you more, and serve you less, than a single A220. Just ask CityJet, or Interjet, or even Aeroflot, what a disaster this plane actually is. The SSJ has already proven to be unreliable, to have a very low rate of serviceability and to be very costly to operate. And Sukhoj/UAC seems to be incapable to provide even a basic level of after-sales support or supply of spares. In other words, the plane has massive problems. Systemic problems that have been plaguing the Russian/Soviet aircraft industry for ever and are unlikely to change.
