Superkart - Assen Gamma Racing Day 2014 - Race 1

Race 1 from the Gamma Racing Day 2014 held at Assen TT Circuit in Holland. The race is also a part of the European Superkart Championship - round 1.
Unfortunately my rear camera did not record this race so only front view in this one, sorry.
In this race i have big problems with 4th gear which ruined my race and i ended up in 6th place.
I drive a PVP Superkart 250 cc, 6 speed, 95 Hp, 218 kg including driver.
Video is made with Trackvision software, AIM laptimer and a GoPro2 camera.

Great race. Even without 4th gear you still managed to find a way to finish 6th. Remember when Senna lost all gears except 6th and won the Brazilian Grand Prix. True Racing my friend. Congrats

How do you get your videos so stable? Even after running my stuff through stabilizing software it still looks pretty jiggly in comparison. What kind of cameras do you use?

I love the slight oversteer action you have in the car. Is it scary for you to handle? or does it just correct itself

The oversteer comes from rear end as you say, wheelspin. the balance of the kart is normally good and there is no oversteer.

Top video as always Henrik. Bit of a shame that 4th gear was such a problem in terms of loosing so much speed. Were there engine upgrades on the kart for assen as each shift was around 13900 - 14000 rpm compared to previous races only shifting around 13300 - 13500. Also looked as though laps were slower than previous years, do you think due to weather conditions or gear problems/setup. Take care

Hi Scotty, i checked on the data from the laptimer and did some overlays on laps with and without gear problems, it semmes that i loose around 0,9 sek each time the 4th gear jumps out. so i think laptimes could have been better. New engine update makes it much better to drive and has a broader powerband. More HP is under development.

henrik lilja You also need shorter gear ratios mate. Your 6th gear was purely overdrive in Assen which is a fast circuit after all.

Did very well to end up 6th with having problems with 4th gear. What was the actual problem that caused it? Anyway awesome vid mate and good luck for the next round.

Seems that the sprocket inside the gearbox was maybe manufactured wrong :-( extremely unlucky!

We think that there is an error on how the sprockets are made (4th gear). next time i am on track we will test this theory.

Was the 4th gear sprocket made from same manufacturer that PVP has always used to assemble inside the gearboxes or was it from a different manufacturer? If you were going to a test day where would the closest track be for you to test easily or would it be at CIK Round 2 race in France?

I don't know about the sprockets. We go to Dijon in france first weekend of September to test
