Superkart Dijon 2014 race 2 Henrik Lilja

Last round of the European superkart series (ESS) held at Dijon (france) 5+6th of September.
The Start speed was a little bit to high for my 1st gear so not the best start for me. As you will see I have a good battle with Peter Elkmann for the second position unfortunately me engine seized on the main straight in the middle of the race.
I made the fastest lap of the race so the speed is there, better luck next time!

Great race, very exciting. Love the course and speedometer showing. I thought you were going to catch that guy but your engine let you down. It seems the difference in these races is the handling of the drivers since the karts all slow down in turns. If time could be made up in those turns it appears a victory could be had. The karts are very fast but it sounds like the shift rpm is no where near redline. I would love to some laps in a 250cc or larger kart. Thanks and good driving!

Can I suggest a change to your video? IMO the rear view should be flipped to mirror. Would look better when the kart behind you is "hugging" the same corner you are. Other than that, I like :D

What is that gauge on the right? Some kind of gforce reading? And how is it useful to the driver? Could it tell the limits of grip before you lose traction?? I'm only guessing here, not familiar with kart racing... My third video only... But I love it... Makes me wish I was 30 yrs younger lol....looks awesome!!!

Hi Henrik, I've got a question: How much does one season in the ESS all in all cost (the superkart, the races, repairs, tyres and so on)? Is it payable for a poor girl like me? haha :D Another question, maybe you can help me: Can I drive a superkart without any professional race experiences just for fun? In the rental way, i mean - like with rental karts. If it's possible, where could i do that? I'm from Germany. Sorry for my bad english! I would be very glad about an answer! :)

Hi Lea, I have never done a full season in the ESS but every race is something like 2000-2500 euro in tyres, fuel, entry, engine parts, travelling cost. Depending on the distance to each race. I think there are 6-8 races in a typical ESS season so in total something like 20.000 euro. I think it will be difficult to find a superkart you can rent and go on track with. You need an international B license to attend a race. I know that in Ocshersleben there will be a test day where people can bring sponsors so they can try the equipment, but you still need to find someone who will let you rent a Superkart (without any experience... ai ai ai...)

Hi Henrik, Assen, Dijon...You should change your mechanic team ;) The noise of your motor is unusual... Some changes ?

In assen we had a broken gearbox and all the aqustic material burned out of the exhaust. In Dijon the track is very elevated so the engine revs in another way. Also the engine is completely changed so this changes to noise as well.

No they don't. it's the "elastic" effect when you brake and accelerate. There is only a little difference in power on the engines.

die karts haben doch NUR 230 cubic hubraum aber um die 50 ps,kann mir mal jemand verraten wie das gehn soll? mein 4 takt kart hat um die 15-16 ps von einem honda motor und 460 cubic hubraum also doppelt so viel hubraum.

this is a 250 cc 2 stroke with around 95 PS.

@@Wildboy0001 Hubraum ist nicht alles. Es gibt auch karts mit 450 ccm mit 20 ps oder mehr ( mit zwei zylinder) aber dein Problem ist der 4 takt...

kartracer127 ,aber es heist doch immer hubraum kann durch nichts ersetzt werden. ich würd gern mal nen kart mit 95 ps sehen oder auch mal fahren wollen.

Hello Henrik, like the girl underneath me, I want to drive a superkart, but I have lots of racing experience. I am shifter kart driver from germany, I also drive Formula Renault 1.6. It would be great if we could arrange something!

Hi Laurents, good to hear that you want to drive Superkart. You need to get in contact with some of the german drivers to get a testdrive. Its almost impossible for me to arrange anything, I have to go 600 km just to go to the nearest track and you have very few times a year when you can book a track for open testing. People normally buy a kart and get the license and attend a race. So not the easiest thing to start in superkart :-(
