Why was the french guy allowed to turn earlier than Brownlee at 35:00 ?
@yannik73716 жыл бұрын
There is a rule in Super League Triathlon that allows the athlete who is the first out of transition to take a "short chute". there is a video on FB where they explain it
@Burnthesof6 жыл бұрын
@@yannik7371 what is the logic behind that rule?
@joshuadaniell83686 жыл бұрын
Actually, the rule is that all athletes that are INTO transition FIRST (For swim, bike and run) are allowed to pass through the “Short Chute” at any point in the race, but the Chute only available for both of the bike and run disciplines (not swim). These athletes can only take the Chute once throughout the whole race, at any time in the race, to gain a small time advantage in order to catch other athletes. You can see that Brownlee takes the Chute at 32:55 to try to gain a gap against Luis, but it backfired when Luis took his use of the Chute on the second lap of the run, as you’ve pointed out. Brownlee ‘collects’ his Short Chute use between the 1st Bike and 1st Run, at 12:40. Other Athletes may have used their turns at the Chute to keep/catch up with a group, or to make sure they won’t get dequeued for being too far off the first competitor (in most cases, the distance for dequeueing is just less than one lap). Not all athletes will get this advantage, as there are only 5 chances, and an athlete can only take the Chute once. Hope this helps.

Before anyone asks . . . Yes, at 33:00 and 35:02 the runners take a short cut . . . This is called a short chute and it's basically cheating; if the other racers aren't watching and you're able to take a short cut along the race, you can get away with it . . . If you're caught by the other racers you will be forced to walk for 15 seconds, if you're caught twice you have to walk for 15 seconds and do 10 push ups . . . It's a high risk, high reward thing.
