This was awesome to watch. There's no shortage of headphone reviewers offering their subjective opinions (redundant, I know... all opinions are subjective) but I have never seen anyone disassemble a set straight out of the box, much less disassemble TWO sets for comparison. Kudos!

I agree about how careful the Beyers are designed. Everything is dismantle-able and replaceable. It may not look as flashy as others, but it's quality which unquestionable comes from long term refinements.

Yes more products should be as repairable, it is terrible how may things end up in landfill because they can't be repaired

Well my cable broke and it costs like half the price of the headphones to have them replaced. Im never buying headphones with none-replaceble cable again. Sound-wise they are very harsh in the trebble. I much prefer my Sennheiser HD 280 that I had. They had less bass, but I prefer the sound and the quality of them wwas jst much better. Imo Beyer feels cheap.

I hasn't been all that impressed by Superlux HD660 (older version non pro), however the open back one HD330 are up until now one of my favored headphones. While AKGs, Beyerdynamic Hifiman, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica they all came and go (I had a lot of pairs over the yeares) I still have my Superlux HD330 - molded to my preferences. New, better headband padding, strip down dumping, different pads. To be honest those might not have all the details in the world, but they sound just the right way for me. Every time I sell some headphones in order to be able to buy better ones I go back to my trusty HD330. It would be interesting to try those Pro version. BTW you should also check standard HD681 model - without B at the end, with red instead of gray accent. They have more bass then "B"allanced and a lot more then "F"lat (white) variant. They also have higher model with better driver HD668B that are considered to be the best out of those AKG stile clones
@truckerallikatuk Жыл бұрын
Very nice. I have the superlux 681 and like them. I do prefer the slightly more expensive Samson SR850s which are also clones of the same AKGs. I shall look at picking up a pair of HD660s as well. Far cheaper than the Beyerdynamics, and a decent way to find out if I want a pair of Beyers in the future when money allows.

These look like a great way to get into modding without fear of damaging an expensive set. That way you can work out what you like to change and then take that experience and skill into other gear. I accidentally cooked a DT770 driver trying to get the wire off - it just wouldn't desolder :(. Perhaps some suggestions on how to adjust the sound - would your DT770 V2 / V3 mod kits produce any meaningful change?

My cheap “DJ” Headphones just broke and i’ve been looking for some headphones to replace them preferably something actually nice. Been looking at AKG 240s but these superluxes might be something I’m interested in I think i’d prefer closed backs but honestly I’ve never tried open backs so I think those would also be interesting to try out. Better than just giving money to samsung.
@CustomCans Жыл бұрын
If you are using them for DJing then they are not ideal as they don't isolate well enough but for everything else they are very good value for money
@cjrminerios5523 Жыл бұрын
@@CustomCans I don’t use them for DJing. they are just advertised as such. I do a lot of recording and isolated listening. Most headphones have a ton of bass which i don’t mind but when listening to classical/orchestral music it kinda ruins the vibe. I’m for sure going for a balanced headphone but for me the choice is between open back and closed back and which one I’d prefer.

hi there, love your content it's amazing. Just have a question maybe someone would be able to help me because i honestly have no idea. I have recently bought a sennhiser HD660s and I really enjoy them but my one driver is making a rattling noise at low bass. I'm using the headphones with a portable dac with my phone that has a balanced output jack. Is my Dac to powerful for my headphones or are they faulty
@CustomCans Жыл бұрын
They are probably faulty or have a hair that has poked through the foam and is touching the driver. If they are under warranty, I would probably get them swapped

nice video very interesting ❤, i subbed. i have the 150Ohm versions and seeing this actually kindda surprised me as the 150 ohm version is much more bassy and presence brighter, i dont have a measurement mic but mine 150ohm sounds bassy without the boomyness and the highs are fairly bright and quite harsh in some cases and very airy ,the mids are fine i didnt hear anything out of the place ,flat mids , weird sounding bass and harsh presence tuning, The 32Ohm version is soooooo much more well tuned than the 150ohm ver😢😢😢😢,, after tuning the highs a bit (decreasing about 5 db at 7k hz and 12k) the bass really came back and more forword, but it sounded very...... empty ? I dont know how to explain , sounds like the 150 ohm version bass is a bit unrealistic and around 80-100 hz i hear nothing like the drivers cant produce those frequency , i had to boost 85 hz for the rumble and boom , watching this video kindda made me regret buying 150ohm, i have an audient id4 btw, i am driving them currectly

Veeery interrsting! I'd be interested to know if the Superlux's can go as loud (short term, naturally!) with bassy material as the 770's , which are a headbanger's/bass-head's dream - I've switched to using them (now with your mods) after 20-odd years of HD580's for that reason (and 10 years of HD480's before that (which, BTW, I belatedly realised I preferred to the 580's after giving them to a friend)
@CustomCans Жыл бұрын
I doubt they will go as loud as the 770 but I will have to have a listen
@EliteRock Жыл бұрын
@@CustomCans Yah - I routinely add silly amounts of bass boost (a rising slope from < 200hz, to as much as +8dB) so that the 770's properly rattle my eyeballs - I don't think there are many cans that would take the abuse.
