I really appreciated the discussion. I'm at 47:46 where you're discussing the characters' ages. I have to disagree, and the show's makeup team backs me up. Follow me here: 1. I'm going to say that Clark and Lois are roughly the same age (probably within a couple of years or so). 2. Lois had become a prominent journalist nationally and even Internationally. If she graduated college at 22, which most people do, it would have taken her a few years to build that reputation (probably more than just a few), and she probably had to work at a smaller newspaper before getting her job at the Daily Planet. So, let's say she is 28 by the time she meets mild-mannered reporter Clark, who probably also had to work at a smaller paper (and learn life lessons previously with his Kryptonian father at the first fortress). So Clark is also 28. They might even be a couple years older, but let's leave it there. 3. They meet, fall in love, get married and have the twins. For argument's sake, we'll say that's two years (though, I lean more toward three by the time the twins are born). That means, at the end of the series (right after defeating Lex), Clark and Lois are each 46 years old. 3. With Sam's heart, Clark lives another 32 years. Therefore, we know that Clark is 78 years old when he died (for the second time). 4. Clark adopted Krypto (hopefully a rescue because that would be so Clark) right after Lois' death of cancer. Krypto is still fairly young when Clark dies. Maybe six or so. 5. If Clark and Lois are the same age (which I contend), then Clark rescued Krypto six years before he died and right after Lois died. That would make Lois 72 years old when she died (perhaps 70 if you want Krypto to be eight years old). I referenced the makeup team. They did a much better on Lois' old-age makeup which actually made her look like she was in her early 70s. 6. The keys to this are: The time it takes Lois to become a credible journalist at a major newspaper, The kids' ages when Lex is finally defeated, Lois looking much older on the porch and on her deathbed than she did while watching her grandchildren while arm-in-arm in with Clark, and Krypto's age when Clark dies again. REGARDING KYLE: It makes perfect sense that Kyle be taking a walk with Clark and Krypto when Clark has his heart attack (or whatever exactly it was). Kyle was the Fire Chief which means he has a bevy of first aid and other life saving training. I believe Kyle is also retired as fire chief (more on that in a bit), but he retains that knowledge. The key words in the narration: "Thanks to Kyle, I didn't die there though (the same place Johnathan Kent died when Clark was a kid)." I think that makes sense. Additionally, I think Clark and Lois' son, John, became a firefighter and, eventually, took over as Smallville Fire Chief for Kyle when the latter retired (in addition to his superhero duties, of course).

Last comment, regarding the final sequence (sorry). In this world, When you die, you go to Heaven (or somewhere else in Lex's case). The catch is that Heaven is timeless. Everyone who dies arrives in Heaven at the same time. Not only that, A person's perspective of their loved ones in Heaven is how they imagine them when they were alive. That explains why Clark sees everyone as younger than they were when they died. That is his perception. Think about it; The boys, his grandchildren, Lex, Krypto, Crissy and Kyle, Lana and John Henry, and then Lois in the red dress (can we just talk about how Bitsie rocked that dress?!). Everyone is exactly how Clark regards them in life.

Sorry, I'm going to comment again (the last one went long, but this will be shorter!). As a Catholic, I can tell you that forgiveness and, specifically, forgiving someone has very little to do about the person you're forgiving. That person may get comfort and that's fine. Forgiveness is about letting go of your hate, contempt and sorrow for what they have done to you in the past. Once you can fully forgive someone as Clark does with Lex, it is a weight off your shoulders and, more importantly, your heart. That's what that whole last sequence with Clark. As was mentioned, once Clark got up and turned around, Lex probably did end up "downstairs."
