Really enjoying rewatching this saga with you - I think the General Blue episodes don’t get enough credit with how well they blended action, adventure, humor and new character development with different plots going at once. Feels like a much better pace after the muscle tower episodes

This episode always makes me laugh so loud, bro! I find this episode so curious because, at the same time that is stupid, it is also brilliant and super funny. This is the pure essence of Akira Toriyama, who had the gift of making us laugh with simple and stupid, but incredibly intelligent jokes. I love it!!!

Umeboshi are salted prunes and Suppaman loves them a lot. His planet is named Okakaumeboshi and his secret identity is Kuraaku Kenta. Clearly a parody of Superman^^ Normally the Penguin Village doesn't know about the Red Ribbon because they don't know about the rest of the world. The Norimaki family is special. Senbei is the famous Doctor of Dr. Slump, his wife is normal but Arale is THE gag character all anime included and Turbo, the little baby is a esper

I agree! I love this Dr. Slump crossover! If you guys are into comedy like Toriyama, I would highly encourage you guys to watch Dr. Slump to see the early works of Toriyama if you guys want 😊

In the Japanese version, Blue was actually hitting on OM, saying that he's his type. He gets pissed off when OM takes off not knowing that he wwas hitting on him, calling him a dumb country hick. The dub version totally changed the translation making it seem that OM reminded him of his brother.

It's true that in the original, general Blue is about to kiss OM cause he's his type, but what people forget is that it's just a robot that looks like a boy. Situation is not that bad, it's just funny cause it makes Blue even more pathetic 😂

The robot that was fixing General Blue’s car is named Obotchaman. That scene with General Blue getting close to Obotchaman and trying to kiss him was added by Toei. It’s an offensive sterotype about gay men. It’s nice to see Superman being a parody in Dragonball through Sourman.

Toei is WILD for making Blue creep on a kid (in Japanese), just cause it's implied he's gay :^v In Toriyama's manga that scene with Obotchaman doesnt happen.

Toriyama was a huge Superman fan. There is this Superman parody character on Dr Slump, but also the whole saiyan thing is inspired by the Superman movies/comics. Goku is Superman, an alien baby sent to Earth when his planet was destroyed, his real name is Kakarot (Kal-El) and he is incredibly strong and can fly. Saiyans are kryptonians, Vegeta and the other two surviving saiyans (besides Goku/Superman) are Zod and the two other kryptonians from the "Superman II" movie. Their kryptonite is their tails. And when Goku breaks Nappa's back, that's inspired by a Superman comic book cover.
