I always tear up when I hear this theme, when it's done right like in this case, not because it reminds me of the tragic end to Christopher Reeve but because of the raw power it contains to move you. Can you imagine what it was like for me, an 11 year old kid, sitting there in the dark watching those titles zoom towards the screen? I wish I could go back in time and watch this movie all over again for the first time to experience that feeling again, or at least sit behind my 11 year old self and enjoy that initial reaction. Good times! (And only one year after Star Wars equally blew my mind).

This music would of made Man of Steel better but the movie was to dark. Superman symbolizes hope among other things. Not insecurity. The movie was crippled before it was even made. A dark Superman movie could work but not with Superman himself being down and gloomy or having lost hope or being insecure. He is supposed to symbolize the opposite of those things. He should inspire people, not sit at the kitchen table wondering if he should be a hero... well that's my opinion anyways.

How this soundtrack didn't win an Oscar is BEYOND me. Then again, John Williams was UNSTOPPABLE in the 70s, almost a monopoly of GREAT soundtrack music!

If there is any piece of music that makes you stand a little taller and puff out your chest and just smile better than this, I haven't heard it yet. Still the single best comic book character theme ever composed. I don't believe it will ever be beaten. And 4-year old me agrees.

@@4sakend1 don't get me wrong, Williams is my favorite film composer. Schindlers List is probably the best film score I've ever heard. However, Conti's Rocky and Karate Kid scores are the most uplifting sports movie scores.

This theme will always sound to me like the true spirit of the Superman myth--nothing else comes close. And Christopher Reeve was the most believable, funny, romantic, dashing Superman of them all, so I'm delighted to hear this theme written for the movies he starred in!

I am the same way, at 43. I think what it comes down to is this - this theme embodies everything great about Superman. And the thing about Superman is that he represents the very best that we can be - and it's not his powers, it's his heart and humility. We all want to feel that way - that we can make the world better. And this theme brings it out in all of us. We feel empowered by it. I did as a child and I do to this day!

Saw this movie when I was 11yrs old in Manhattan on opening night, my older sister and her boyfriend took me and my younger brother and sister to go see it. At the time my parents were divorced and just myself and younger siblings were living with my mom and her boyfriend, he was a very abusive person. I always wanted to be Superman, I was always drawn to his good nature. When Superman caught the helicopter the entire theatre stood up and cheered, it was Amazing!!! Every time I hear the beginning of this song I also tear up and get goosebumps. Never forget that night that night!!!

You are NOT alone, Chris. Since the first time (of many) I saw it in theaters as a kid, nothing stirs my soul like this piece. Not Star Wars, not Indiana Jones. Not the haunting themes in Alien or the martial rush of its sequel. Not Hogwarts nor Narnia nor even Lord of the Rings. Not Halloween, Jurassic Park, or even the many anthems of Bond. THIS is the sound of my endless childhood.

He and Margot Kidder who played Lois Lane. Who would have ever thought how it would turn out for them. Seemingly on top of the world and then both their worlds came crashing down. My heart just broke for the both of. But they are in the hands of the real SUPERMAN, the Almighty now. I am sure they are flying all about the universe now.
@captaingenius-o1c6 жыл бұрын
I don't think Reeve was a Christian or a God fearing man, so I doubt that he's in heaven.....He was a loopy actor that was a HUMANIST.......Most of hollywood is going to hell...... To quote REEVE: Well, believe it or not, I think that, y'know, God is not an entity that you find when you go to church and pray to God almighty, you know, and I always remembered that going to church as a kid, you know, and they talk about the vengeance of His terrible swift sword and His army, I said, "well that's kind of a scary guy." But I think that -- while I don't believe in God, per se, I believe in spirituality. And I believe that spirituality actually is automatically within ourselves, but we have to learn how to access it, and what that is, is realizing there is a higher power; there is..........Then went on to say.....more than just us, there is an inner strength, there is something, y'know, that comes from -- I don't know where exactly it comes from, but it's -- it really is the best that humans can be and perhaps what it is -- perhaps really what it is love.... So he give zero credit to God/Jesus and just talks about some inner human strength, which he calls spirituality and love, but NEVER gives God the glory or Jesus the source of his salvation or beliefs............again----a HUMANIST is not going to heaven, and HOLLYWOOD is full of those types..... Jesus said that IF you deny me before men, that he will deny you before the Father.......
