The Taito arcade Superman game is above this one, especially with that sweet Zuntata rendition of the Superman theme. Otherwise, like Spiderman, old Supes was out of luck when it came to good games.

No, it's not. Besides the fact that the rights to the music are separate from those of the character, this game doesn't seem to be based on any particular iteration of Superman, so Sunsoft probably didn't feel the need to use a pre-established theme. The theme they came up with sounds pretty Superman-y, anyway. Not to mention, Sunsoft's Batman games used no music from the movie, but they're still solid soundtracks in their own right.

The most accurate Superman game I have seen. All lasers are green. Which means kryptonite. Nice play because if they were not it would be like the other games and would not make sense.

I must admit that the game is hard as hell. I remember passing it to me for years and after repeated practice and use of game genies. Also, I must also admit that the soundtrack is great. Especially the boss battle (the best in the entire game).

Stage 5 and Boss Battle - Great Music that makes you try hard to beat the game

Saw a Crue Ball playthrough before seeing this one, and boy oh boy you can tell which game had the better soundtrack. Hint: It's a Man of Steel. While Crue Ball sounds like razor blades tearing at your ear drums, this sounds far smoother, and a proper use of the Genesis soundchip, helps a Japanese developer using custom sound drivers were behind this one.

Do anyone remember there was a code that you entered on the title screen. It allowed you to skip levels-you can skip the entire game to the ending. When entered correctly the music on the title screen changed to a hidden track that wasn’t used in any of the levels.

No, it's not "a major fail," not even "a bit." Just because Superman has a classic theme doesn't mean that not including it is a flaw. Besides the fact that the rights to the music are separate from those of the character, this game doesn't seem to be based on any particular iteration of Superman, so Sunsoft didn't use a specific pre-established theme. @@imfsresidentotaku9699 Well, I'll have to disagree with you. The music throughout the game here sounds like it belongs in some '80s Starsky & Hutch detective show or something imo. For me, without the classic and iconic John Williams Superman theme, it's missing something, that special magic. And, with that theme and the variations of it for different levels and moods, etc, it would take it to another level as I see [hear] it. So that's that.
