It's pretty cool that the Leder Building that's being used for the Daily Planet was home to the Cleveland News in the 1920s-30s, and Clark Kent used to originally work at a paper called the Cleveland Evening News in early Action Comics stories (AC #2).

It's going to be great that we're going to see a lot of The Daily Planet stuff in the DCU. One of the many terrible things the DCEU did was to not only kill Superman in the 2nd movie of their new film universe but also decided to kill off Clark Kent too as they announced it in the newspaper when they didn't need to at the end of Batman v Superman. Killing off Superman was certainly one thing but doing that with Clark Kent too is another as even when Superman returned they couldn't bring back the Clark Kent persona for the remainder of the DCEU. I guess the DCEU hierarchy had no role or had any time or plan to focus on the Clark Kent character and or his life at The Daily Planet going forward which was a big mistake as Clark Kent is just as important as Superman when understanding and relating to the character overall.

I have full confidence and i’m putting all my eggs in one basket. This superman movie is gonna be the best of all time. The casting, to the set photos of metropolis and everything else just sounds like everything you’d put into a perfect superman comic, never mind a movie. @@jackelinevalladares7118 I think the measure of success WB and DC Studios will be looking for is if the audience and critical feedback says they have created a fun, inviting,tone to their universe that encourages repeat viewings by families. The tone of Ironman made families want to come back and explore the MCU. Even the toned down mass destruction in The Avengers wasn't a turn off and Marvel was able to take a more serious tone in later films looking back on the battle of New York or even the SNAP and not lose families while holding onto more mature or demanding fans. Establish Superman and Supergirl as the family friendly heart of the DCU and build on that with Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. Then use Peacemaker,Waller,Lanterns, and Brave and the Bold,to establish the more serious darker side. Use the Justice League film to bring the brighter Superman dominated world together with the darker Batman dominated world through the Green Lanterns.

That part of Metropolis doesn't look nothing like retrofuturistic to me. It looks pretty realistic, actually. Any major city that exists for over a century has historic districts and ancient buildings, and it looks like The Daily Planet is part of Metropolis' historic district.

I am getting more and more confident in this movie with each nugget we get. Just the fact that Gunn loves and understands the world of Superman in such minute detail gives me full confidence that this will at least be a good Superman movie. See, this is the kinda stuff I’m talking about.. from everything that I’m hearing, James Gunn “gets” Superman. I hear about set locations. The fortress of solitude. I see the set photo for the daily planet. Everything is like “fuck yea!” As a die hard Superman fan… and then you got that god awful suit… like i just want the suit changed.. is that so hard? Everything is pointing towards “classic Superman” and the suit is just pure ass. How do you nail Superman like this and miss so hard with the suit.. the suit is so fucking important. Why can’t we get a classic Superman suit. The suit he gave us is so objectively bad.. the bagginess, the thickness, the sigil, the boots.. it’s all so bad. The trunks is good but that’s about it.. if he’d just have a come to Jesus moment and listen to the actual fans and not the shills, he can just change the suit and then we’d be back in business.. his pride is getting in the way

For all we know, he's gonna touch up the suit in post production.The released photo wasn't a hero pose.We have no idea what it will look like in action,standing or striking a pose. The photo was trying to suggest a blue collar battered Superman going back on the clock to handle business. The bagginess and thickness was a result of him sitting in a chair pulling on his boot.It's to suggest a Superman who is weary yet determined to protect the world. It's the same way you could have a Marine in a perfectly fitting dress uniform or a politician in a perfectly taylored suit.Put them in a chair pulling up their socks and their uniform or suit is going to look like sh%t because it is not optimized to look at its best during such an activity.

The suit we saw, however, is clearly not the suit we're getting "as is" throughout the entire film. For one, it's battle -damaged in the pic which points to it getting replaced at some point. Not to mention, we can't even see the entire suit because he's not standing.

@@Walke-ts the battle damage is not that part that makes it bad.. it’s the whole design, less the trunks, and it starts with the sigil. The sigil is not getting changed. Even if the suit gets replaced, it’s still gonna look bad cause it’s gonna have this overall esthetic. Plus, i don’t need him to be standing to know what the suit looks like. The picture leaves nothing to be desired. You can see everything you need to see about the suit just from that. I don’t care if it looks more form fitting when he’s standing up, it’s still a bad suit design. Unless the suit gets replaced with a completely classic style suit with a classic style sigil, it’s a fail on the suit

@@marc_andreroy My point about the "reveal" featuring a battle damaged suit is that it clearly tells us this is not the suit we're getting "as is" throughout the entire film. We may be getting 2 different designs altogether and we won't know until more is revealed. The emblem, like it or not, is from the Kingdom Come.(1996) comic and designed by famous award-winning artist Alex Ross. I like it as a change of pace.
