I had this record when I was 7, and my brother and I listened to it enough to memorize long stretches of it. Thanks for bringing the great Hackett narration back to my consciousness!

Thank you so much for posting this. I was almost in tears listening and watching this. My parents bought us kids this album and I would listen and follow along in the book and LOVED it, I listened to it many times and all those special memories of a better time came flooding back. I would give anything to be a little boy again for just one day. God bless you sir!

you have to admit this film still holds ones attention whereas the flying car film has lost something through the years.

The recording omits the song that Tennessee sings to Herbie, back in Virginia City, not used in the film: You had your heart out/ It had to Break/...It's hard to take I filled it with gas and with oil/ To make you Hum/ But Thorndike tricked you/ I hate that Bum".

That freaked me out even as a kid...Mr. Wu was such a dignified character in the film, and they turned him into an terrifying caricature.

RIP Buddy, everything in this record is great. I bet the love bug boosted VW sales? Not that VW would have needed boosting but just saying.

Thorndyke put Irish coffee into Herbie's gas tank, not whipped cream in his carburetor...

I have this LP that I've got at an estate sale last weekend. The record is in pretty good shape, but it's missing the pages, just the gatefold itself. I will do a video of the full album soon. Buddy Hackett was best known for the voice of Skuttle in "The Little Mermaid" narrated the story, but there were no songs and no music at all, just a bunch of dialogue, and that's it. This was the only time they did that since "Donald Duck & Friends" album from 1960. The theme music at 33:52 was from the actual movie, and it was never presented on the album, so they thrown it in as an added bonus.

I only like the first herbie. The rest didn't feel authentic.

I've never heard of former car companies such as: Willys-Knight Hudson (except for the Hudson Hornet) Hupmobile Durant I know the Edsel. That's an overpriced car.
