Oni uses this kind of input that benimaru does to get instant air dash ultra QCF(1) Upforward + button > immediate second qcf button after canceling, as one smooth motion hope this helps catching the hands against justin wong's benimaru makes you learn something

In this game (maybe in other games aswell) it's not a good idea to pick the top tiers as a beginner just because they are top tiers like i have seen a lot of people doing, they are actually pretty "mid tier" characters if you are an intermediate or even advanced player, for them to be top tier you need to be a really high level player so it's not like they will give any kind of leverage, game is pretty balanced. If you want easy but decent characters you can try O.Yashiro, Kim, Yuri, EX Takuma,Terry,Chris,Iori,Vice,Athena,Kula. If you want a character that is easy and top tier at the same time: Kasumi. But really, any character in this game is good enough to fight any character, even the low tier characters are not bad at all so anybody works.

in KOF 2001 and the first version of 2002 there was a character called K9999 who was retconned out of existence due to being blatant plagiarism of the character Tetsuo from Akira. Nameless was the canon replacement for him and has most of the same moves but with visual changes to further distance the series from the plagiarising done by 2001's devs.

When it comes to KOF, I've always like Kim, King, Robert, Kyo, Mai, Rugal, and Vice/Mature(They were pretty interchangeable in my mind). Although most of my knowledge of KOF came from CVS1, and my opinions of them were purely visual. I liked how they looked and how they fought. At least.... until KOF All-Stars came out. The mobile game. Then I learned the lore about these characters(up to 97') and.. yeah, for some of them.. opinions definitely changed lol

@@mthsdcs Well, the most drastic change in opinion goes to Kim. I thought he was the coolest thing ever, from his outfit to his moves, specials and supers. Dude is sick! Or so I thought, come to find out he's basically a baby-sitter through most of the games. He's corny as hell. Now, being corny isn't necessarily a bad thing, its just.. I thought he leaned more towards Vegeta when in reality he leans more towards Adult Gohan in DBS. Again, up to 97' as far as I know. Kyo is similar in that regard. I thought he was a badass anti-hero but that's faaaaar from reality lol Although with him being the face of the franchise, that one is kinda on me for thinking that. Now Iori though?? Iori is basically what I thought Kyo would be. I don't care for his design THAT much, but I like the fact that he's just trying to throw hands. ON SIGHT! I know there's a little more to it than that.. but still. Its hype to me lol Mai, Rugal, Vice and Mature are all basically what I thought they'd be. However, Vice and Mature just being essentially body guards/servants was kinda meh. I'd hope they'd have their own things going on. I already thought King was pretty awesome, but her lore made her even better in my eyes. Owning a bar? Dope. Muay Thai like Sagat? Sick. Fights in a suit? Amazing. But of course, these are all just my opinions. I feel I should mention that since this is the internet.

@@SpecialBeam I agree 100% with all that, except for Kyo, because I actually like how his personality reminds me of Yusuke Urameshi from YuYu Hakusho, in a way. I've seen people say that the characters from Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting that are treated like comic relief in KoF, like Kim and Mr. Karate (sometimes) have a more "serious" role in their games of origin. Vice and Mature have a more interesting role in the Ash saga, even though their character is more of a vehicle to Iori's character development in those games.

It's OK, you are on the average mark. Superficial knowledge mostly derived from CvS... a bad/lacking reference to know Snk, for people who really got into Snk from the own games. From what ive seen many old fg fans who aren't part of an actual Snk fg culture (basically limited to Asia, a bit of the Middle East, and most of Latin America) found out Snk by CvS. Very late for some reason, but better late than never...

I recently bought KoF 97 + SamSho V Special from PSN TGS Sale and once again Code Mystic did a great job with rollback netcode. Sadly i’m really bad at KoF 97 (my team are Billy, Benimaru, and Robert / Joe) and i got bodied by those Japanese lol. Would love to try KoF 2002 but i prefer they port KoF 13 to current gen consoles and add rollback. That game looks amazing and more people needs to try it.

The main objective after 2002UM is handled (hopefully SNK will allow Code Mystics to add lobbies later) is to work on ‘98UM next, that is the major test to convince SNK that rollback for future titles works if you have a dev _who gives a frikk_ (COUGHS Digital Eclipse COUGH SamSho Collection)

To me they should work next on a 94-98+um (Orochi saga) pack with netplay. A single retro release is a too small project at this point. Plus there's no bigger feat than 02um among online retro releases. 98um, good as it is, is no bigger than 98um or more popular. So the next step should better be a big project like a collection.

A more interesting alternative to me could be a collection of Snk fg essentials with netplay. Like Kof 95, 97, 98, FFS, RB2, Motw, SS2, SS5sp, SvC. With a SF30thAC treatment: modern training interface, movelists, etc.

Is this your first KoF? Don't make '02 UM your first KoF, dood. This is like going from addition to calculus. Advice? 0. KoF 2006/Max Impact 2 (1v1 focus, although it can be played 3v3 as well, super loose controls/mechanics, easy OTGs that you don't use anywhere else) 1. KoF '96 or XIII (less characters/matchups, good skill transition) 2. KoF '98 or XV (moderate amount of characters, good/forgiving controls) 3. KoF '02 UM or XIV (mechanically deep, TONS OF CHARACTERS/MATCHUPS, relatively tight but solid controls) 4. if you dare. KoF XI (this is the Marvel 3 of KoF games)
