This is a full build video of a Alley Cat Models 1/48 scale model kit of the Supermarine type 300, better known as the Spitfire prototype. This kit is build as the version that flew for the first time on the 5th of March, 1936, and thus changed the world forever.
The kit
This is a resin kit manufactured by a one-man company, Alley Cat model The details and fittings are OK, but not at the level you get now from Tamiya/Eduard Spitfires. There are pieces for all the prototype versions, but it likelyhas incomplete rivet lines and a weird photo etch set.
The instructions are basic, but could help a little more on fitting places of some pieces.
The build
This kit is not that enjoyable for now, as the resin material doesn't flex and can break, and it requires you to trim all pieces from the thick sprues. The canopy needs some glass coat dip to look presentable. Fittings were a nightmare, spinner needs a shaft, but nonetheless it is going OK.
