The rules of arm wrestling are being changed every year and they've already put one limiter in place to help reduce the effectiveness of the Kings move, don't think for a moment that it will be the last measure they take.

It's the most highly debated topic there is within the arm wrestling community. The King's move is personally my least favourite technique...the referee's opinion of what constitutes an 'elbow on the pad' is crazy, and the moment you mentioned is a shining example of this.

In boxing it's hit and don't get it (with rules) in arm wrestling it's pin them and don't get pinned (with rules). There is a way to beat the kings move. Even Michael Todds kings move, HEAVY SIDE PRESSURE. Denis did it to Michael, John brzenk did it to him, tavis Baegent did it to him. Devon almost got him too, Todd needs to keep the shoulders above the table and elbow on the pad and I think it's fine.

@@_o.O__ Being forced into an under the table means last resort, purely, but if you want to exploit that advantage, it's basically like choosing to cop out on the beauty of the other 90% of the game at hand. Sticking to only that 10% (under the table strategy). Laratt for instance does do that move, but only when forced into it. As all other positions offer equally useful and valuable setups/maneuvers/plays/moves/entertainment, lol. Basically, a complete and utter bitch move, 0% respectable and has no balls, and it no fun to watch. Lol, so yes, it could exist in the sport, but if people do that, the sport will go from INSANELY entertaining, to INSANELY boring. To add even more clarity: Larratt DOES employ a strategy of holding people at the edge of winning, but this is literally the most entertaining thing someone in the sport could do, and it takes insane skill and perfection to do it, so it's basically him flexing, but also that doubles because the opponent RAPIDLY expends all of their energy reserves trying to FINISH. A perfect strategy, but the riskiest version of strategy offered. So, mad respectable.

People think it's easy to pull off the King's move but it's actually super hard - I've been armwrestling for years and I don't even bother with it b/c of how challenging it is to do it properly. It requires a lot of power, tightness and skill - if you transition in and our of it incorrectly you will certainly lose - yet alone vs Dave Chafe one of the strongest. Devon beat him 3-1 fair and square like it or not. Yea King's move is lame in it's own way - but a win is a win my man. (George, on my other account lol)

King's move is fine. It's a permutation of the strap. the strap allows for things that would never have been possible otherwise. You can't ban it, if you keep the strap. Buuuuuuut, they really need to watch the elbow. These guys all have gorilla arms, and it is hard to see where the elbow is. But there were points in that last match that looked really awkward. Maybe get better cameras on the pads.

Take UFC for example at the start there used to be no weight class and they didn't have any gloves and you could kick a downed opponent in the head when he was down. The sport changed and made new rules to protect the fighters and to make the sport more appealing to fans so the sport could grow and become massive. Just my opinion I don't see a rapid advancement in arm wrestling when the Kings Move is allowed to the point where your shoulder can go Way under the table and your ass can be touching the ground! I'm a Larratt fan. So don't get me wrong but if Larratt was smart he would have released his pull slightly but abruptly. This would have put Todd's elbow off the mat. Still I applaud Larratt's dedication to taking the ethical approach. When all is said and done though you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to win. There is no point entering a competition in order to look good losing. If you watch Todd's tactics you'll see he only won after wearing Larratt down and then standing up and pressing. Every sport evolves when someone sees a new way to do something and acts on it. Like with Micheal Jordan running baseline under the hoop, faking the nearside and bringing the ball back down and putting it on the far side of the hoop while players like Patrick Ewing were hovering over him.Or Muhammad Ali's rope-a-dope against Foreman. My point is that King's move has been around forever. Todd just knew how to use it against Larratt to wear him out.

Having a husband and wife referee the same matches is a genius idea and would never lead to biased decisions. 🙄 Also, when are you going to ban going under the table? Shoulders should have to stay above the table at all times. Once the top of the shoulders dips under the top of the table it should be a foul. Allowing all of this is going to make the WAL sink like a rock. People don't like it. Nepotism and cheating doesn't lead to anywhere good.
