Ok I actually know the answer for why humans have only one baby (twins and triplets etc. are anomalies not norms). One of the reasons the development of bipedalism in our ancestors was such an advantage was because as Africa became cooler and drier (it used to be deep tropical jungle thousands of years ago) instead of swinging through trees we had to start walking as trees became less common and therefore we were able to keep our hands free as we moved. This meant we could carry food along with us and not have to waste time trying to find more food constantly as we did when we had to use our arms for brachiation. So if we were to have more than one baby, this major advantage would become useless since both arms would have to be taken up by holding two or more infants. Seeing as human babies are born comparatively much earlier in the gestational period than most other animals (most can walk minutes/hours/days after being born but humans can't even hold up their heads for ages) to allow for the large skull and brain to fit through the pelvis in childbirth, a mother would have to carry her babies around for a long time meaning she would be vulnerable with both her hands full AND would have to spend a bunch of time foraging every time she wanted to eat rather than keeping food with her. Social codes and communication was super rudimentary so group childcare wasn't really a thing, and so she would have to leave her kids under a bush or something to go get food which would probably result in them getting eaten. If she just had one she could forage and carry food while keeping the kid safe at the same time. Those selection pressures that allowed mothers that more often had single births rather than multiple ones to survive more (and therefore their babies could survive to breed later as they matured) meant that the frequency of genes that predispose higher rates of multiple-offspring pregnancies decreased dramatically. Basically, we needed our arms for shit when we started walking around and since human babies are born useless and stupid and stay that way for months, a mother and child are more likely to survive if the mother can have one arm free instead of carrying around two or more kids. Idk if you guys are allowed to know this because of your good christian status i'm sorry i corrupted you

Dear Matt and Ryan from SuperMega I have formulated this messages to ask of you to please bring back the Pokémon Emerald Let's Play series. I miss the series and I am dissapointed that it had ended. Eventhough this series ended over a year ago, it would be very appreciated by not only myself but many other SuperMega fans I'm sure. It was an amazing journey, watching Condle, Breloom, Goodfriend and the rest of the gang's development on their adventure with Tarzan. I was excited to watch Holes 2 grow into a big strong metal boi. I wanted to see how the Pokémon, Isreal and Palestine, got along. I wanna hear some more of those glorious Christian songs. I'm now sad and I would be very happy if you would bring it back, please. Lots of love James Adamo PS. I am from the poor counrty of South Africa so if you would please give me the little bit of hope to keep me going in this wild, disease riddled land.

Humans tend to have one baby at a time partly because of this. Human genetic survival strategy centers around “quality” rather than “quantity”, meaning humans allocate more of their resources into fewer children. These children remain helpless for a long time and develop over years, but in return for all the survival risks, the brain has been further developed and complex thought has been developed. Many human behaviors reflect the “quality” survival strategy, including choosiness in picking mates.
