Thank you O.G... I am a community college student in California and my M.I.T. graduate instructor hit us in the head with this one. Spend 7 hours trying to form these equations (we had a dependent voltage source 10Vx instead of your 7 volts) and could not get it crackin'... Thanks again friend...

Does anyone know why he uses the convention of going from + to - adds voltage, and - to + subtracts? It may not matter, but I am used to seeing a voltage source - :| +, and when I do KVL equations I have always treated this as a +V, and every component in its loop facing the current + to - was a drop to that voltage, so I subtract. Are these conventions the same?
@diags_1109 Жыл бұрын
As long as you consistently use the polarity of - to + as positive they will result in the same answer.

sir will there be no current through 40 ohm resistor ? or you forgot considering it
@theodor3207 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing - it got to be a current going into the node through that wire as well.
@neeltej41236 жыл бұрын
yes.. there will be current through 40 ohm resistor,it was a mistake above. v1=38.8 volts is the ans

For equation 3 you missed the value of that resistor 2. It should be 2I1 - 2I3= 7.
@YunusKhanification4 жыл бұрын
The first 2 equations were (KVL) equations. The 3rd one (KCL equation) was written to find the relation between the currents so he can cancel out one of the currents and solve using first 2 equations.
@diags_1109 Жыл бұрын
It does not matter as long as you use 3 equations for 3 unknowns... etc
