Im sold on both of your products. The NC xida and these bronze insert poly bushings. Sadly I imagine the front lower control arms will not allow enough rotation due to the constrained degree of freedom in the rear mount point. The ND fixed this flaw. You guys do real engineering. It shows. I love it.

So you have to rely on the bronze bushing to maintain a tight enough tolerance against the steel to prevent any play, while also being loose enough to allow the steel to rotate? Also, are these going to come back in stock anytime soon?

some times a stock bushing is useful in the rear end of a drift car to allow high powered cars to plant the rear wheels flat to the ground to maintain traction. so actually you're wrong, some times in performance situations you would want stock bushes.
@949RacingSuperMiata2 жыл бұрын
Curious how a compliant bonded rubber bushing with intrinsic spring rate will "plant the rear wheels flat to the ground" better than a reduced compliance bushing with no spring rate. The motorsports world clearly has it wrong. On second thought, never mind.

to be honest from an outside educated guess, if I saw a suspension flop that easily I would be a bit shocked because I would feel that if a suspension system that has no friction will feel more responsive loose and harsh while one with more friction would feel more smooth and better for potholes and turning
@949RacingSuperMiata2 жыл бұрын
Feelings ≠ data.
@imnota Жыл бұрын
You want the springs and shocks to do the work, if you think about it any flex or friction other wise acts like an added untuned shock or spring, leading to uncontrolled movement of your suspension. Same reason why a stiffer chassis can actually be more comfortable, the springs and shocks are gonna handle it instead of the chassis flopping around

Hi, just wondering how suitable this kit would be for a road car? How do they compare to standard rubber bushings? Thanks
@949RacingSuperMiata3 жыл бұрын
Better bump absorption with the 863 kit. Our 863 kit will eventually require lube where the rubber OEM kit does not. If you have not already, watch the video for more details.

Emilio, I would never question your ingenuity, but I wonder why this hasn't been done before, I'm assuming cost is the main answer. Maybe it is done on other cars and and I'm not familiar with it. I can't think of any reason that it wouldn't work, I see that there is a company that makes them for 911 trailing arms as well. I know the miata market doesn't have deepest pockets, but I'm surprised I have heard of this application before. Also is this an oil impregnated bronze?
@949RacingSuperMiata3 жыл бұрын
DIY and small shop conversion from nylon to 863 bronze bushings has been common in the UTV/ATV market for 20 years. Some BMW and Honda shops started doing it about 15 years ago. Most simply haven't heard of it but the idea has been around for a while.
@FullAssRacing3 жыл бұрын
This has been around for around 6 years already for Miatas. However, the person/business selling these was working out of his garage and working occasionally on weekends and couldn't keep up with demand. SM is helping support the demand.

Google "SAE 863" to learn more details on the material we use.

What lube is best? (specifically for the bronze bearing part - not the inserting the urethane bushing into the control arms - if the two differs that is)
@949RacingSuperMiata3 жыл бұрын
We recommend urethane specific non-migrating grease. Full list on the product page. Kit includes enough for install.
@lutherblissett90702 жыл бұрын
Would oil impregnated bearings (like oilite) not mean you can do away with lubing?
@949RacingSuperMiata2 жыл бұрын
We recommend a light coat of motor oil on sleeves when installing to act as a moisture barrier. It will also soak into the 863 material overtime and extend their life. But yes, very little maintenance is required.
