This makes it even more emotional because this was actually Jared and Jensen’s first time hearing the girls sing. That was their actual reaction.

One thing I learned on Buffy The Vampire Slayer is that dimensions (in these case worlds or areas like the cage in hell) time runs relative. On one episode of Buffy a vamp was stuck on a hell dimension for a month but for him it was a century (I think) and the spin off had something similar to Jack. A baby was kidnapped & taken to another dimension, when back he was a young man already. So time it's not always something anyone should take for sure on series were things like ghosts, vampires, witches, angels, demons, werewolves, etc are something of every day. I think we should worry when they have a total no worry day, THEN we should worry!

One of my favorite episodes! So many fun call backs. And then after that emotional "Carry On" moment, the surprise ending with Chuck showing up was a double whammy of feelings at the time because this aired about a year after Rob Benedict's stroke, so to see him on screen again was amazing.
@zebrion57937 ай бұрын
This is legitimately one of my favorite episodes in the entire show, because the writers are very self-aware and know how fans perceive everything. Then they swing it right back around and tell us that it doesn't matter if it's formulaic - because it works. It's a timeless style of storytelling. It just goes to show how good the actors are, that they can sell a fairly predictable story and make it feel grounded and realistic.

As far as I know, these kind of episodes are loved by the fandom :) I believe this on is in the favorites - list of most fans of Spn :) Also a little bis of trivia on how powerful the fandom is : For season 7 (might have been 6 or 8) the show was put on Fridays where shows usually don't survive long. Spn did and was moved to Wednesdays the following year :) Oh, and charities. There was a campaign by Jared years ago called "Always Keep Fighting". Basically addressing everyone dealing with depression or even suicide. Misha and Jensen started "You're not alone" another campaign helping people. I'm not sure if it was part of this campaign, but they also set up an emergency hotline for people dealing with suicide thoughts. There was a team that vetted volunteers and those volunteers spend lots of their own time on the phone talking to others. Misha also co - founded Random Acts (Rachel Miner - 2. Meg- is director of that one now, by the way ). Gishwes has stopped now, but it was a scavenger hunt organised by Misha and his team which included lots of items focused on helping people. One of the first actions of Gish (or Random Acts) was to build an orphanage in Haiti after the Tsunami back in 04. The Fandom collected/donated a lot of money, the orphanage was bult and it's still standing today (surviving a few bad weather conditions after). It even served as a shelter during those conditions. The man who built the orphanage was a retired subway construction worker and made sure it was stable. All of this would not have been possible if not for the power of this fandom :)

Normally, I'm not a fan of meta episodes; they generally either go for too much or not enough. I've binged Supernatural at least half a dozen times, and while there are a few episodes I skip over, this isn't one of them. Everything was great: Sam and Dean were in character, the songs and production were exactly what you'd expect from a high school production, and-best of all- the final guest star wasn't listed in the opening credits, which is a highly unusual occurrence in this show.
@Wannabe_Baby7 ай бұрын
I'm watching Supernatural for the first time with you and when this episode started, I was expecting to dislike it. Cringed at the first song, don't like most of the "meta" storytelling and when it comes to the "fangirl" parodies, I still have bad flashbacks about Becky ... but by the end of the episode, when they were singing "Carry On My Wayward Son", I got a bit teary-eyed! That was a surprise. Had no idea it was the 200th episode when I watched it either, so that was neat. Oh, and I loved seeing Ash being represented in the play, in the background when Dean was giving his motivational speech.

I mean look, there are cringe toxic fans who harass real people over fictional problems (the ones most likely to get writers' attention for the wrong reasons) and there are actual passionate but respectful fans. I'm glad this episode acknowledged the other, larger side of things.

Wow. You're totally glowing today. Love your nails. Yes, this was a good, fun episode, loved the intros! We've reached the point when Supernatural has become very much a girls' show, with women making up the majority of the viewers and an even larger percentage of the fans who attended the Supernatural conventions. In the first season, it was meant to be a guy's show, but over time, it made a dramatic shift in favor of female fans and viewers and the show itself being female oriented.

This is one of the best shows ever made, its shame it ended but it ended very well after 15 seasons, the spin off though was hit or miss. An alternative earth for the Winchester show set before the brothers were born seemed a bit stupid but it enabled them to change things without breaking canon. I just would have rather they made a Wayward Sisters spin off with Jodie and the girls instead or a direct sequel set in the future

The 100th episode was really just a big story episode, in which Dean kills Zacharia. So it was cool to kind of get a more celebratory episode for the 200th. Just wait for the 300th 😆 As for the reception on these more meta episodes, they're kind of split. Some are more liked than others sure, like the French Mistake, but I do think for the most part it's 50/50.

The joke about Sam cutting his hair to be Dean is because 1. There has been a joke going around in the fandom about Sam’s hair because Crowley used to take jabs at him about it. 2. Jared, who played Sam, played a character named Dean in Gilmore Girls a few years before he auditioned for Supernatural and I might be remembering incorrectly, but I believe Jared auditioned for Dean. They chose Jensen though and they really liked the chemistry that the two had so they cast him as Sam.
@nosandhere64883 ай бұрын
Jensen actually auditioned for Sam. Both guys did because his character was being cast first, and everyone read first it. They liked Jared for Sam and knew Jensen would be better suited for Dean. Jared and Jensen have told this story many times.
