Loved your reaction! (your comment about them being child soldiers really broke my heart) I’ve been a diehard Supernatural fan since 2007 and am so happy that you are going to be reacting to it. Very much hoping you’ll stay here on KZbin ❤

"This whole family needs a therapist" should be this show's tagline. While this show has a lot of humor, it's necessary to break the tension considering how dark the show is. It does tend to get pretty meta at times as well and its great. Mark Pellegrino as *insert spoiler* and Jensen Ackles as Dean are probably my favorite characters. Note: Seasons 1-5 were all plotted out from the beginning so the main plot is very coherent even with all of the monster of the week episodes but Seasons 6-15 were postscript seasons so quality tends to be all over the place with some of the best episodes of the series and some of the worst.

So the show gets dark, eh? That could be interesting. I see the seeds of interesting developments being laid (I've recorded up to the 4th episode at this point) and I know the show had a RIDICULOUS number of seasons and wouldn't have lasted if it didn't have something to it. I asked my mom about it just today and she said although there are some weak epusodes of course, the show overall maintains its quality throughout the series. So I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it all unfold!

It's always nice to see another KZbinr reviewing the saga of Sam and Dean Winchester. :)

The first five seasons of SPN are exceptional in their storytelling, the overarching plot, outstanding writing and charismatic, likeable characters. I really hope you continue with it as I think you’ll find a degree of overlap between your Buffy fans and Supernatural.

I'm so glad you're watching the Original first season. On Prime and Netflix, the first season's soundtrack is different - It was too expensive to buy the Rights for the original music, so they changed it.

@cup_cuppy_cuppers5817 I'm glad too, because I'm digging the soundtrack. I'll have to end up editing out a lot of my dancing if I continue to edit this series for KZbin 🤣

Their mother died two days after Halloween and considering what Sam had to endure since his early childhood with having to hunt monsters with his family of course he hates Halloween. Also now his girlfriend dies in the exact same way on the same exact same day so November 2, All Souls Day is like an anniversary of the worst day of his life.
@nebulousreactionsАй бұрын
That makes perfect sense! I feel so bad for Sam. I've recorded up to episode 4 at this point, and I really appreciate the writers didn't just kill off the girlfriend as a plot device and forget about her. Sam continues to be affected by grief, and although it's sad to see because he's a likeable character, it's great that the writers give weight to character deaths. It's a pet peeve of mine when they don't.
@BriSand1993Ай бұрын
@@nebulousreactions Well sure I appreciate they give the death weight. But in a way they still killed her as a plot device because her death is the reason Sam gets started on his journey. We the audience feel bad for Sam because we see how much he loves her but at the same time we didn't get enough time to know her as an actual character.
@nebulousreactionsАй бұрын
@BriSand1993 It absolutely is a plot device technically, so I suppose I should have worded my original statement as not liking when they use a death just as a plot device that has no emotional impact on the characters. So even though her death serves a purpose of driving the plot, I just appreciate that it also continues to impact the story in a meaningful way. I'm a writer myself, so I notice and appreciate things like that.

@@nebulousreactions Later on Supernatural got an anime adaptation that only lasted one season. It has the same basic story of the main show but followed its own continuity and they had an episode that expanded on Sam and Jessica's relationship so it hurts more to us when she dies. Too bad the main show didn't do that.

You, my dear, have just delved into one of the biggest family fandoms there is, besides Buffy. Btw...this show is adjacent to the Buffyverse, but more on those details later on. I know you'll get sucked into this show. Their dynamic and chemistry is very real. In real life, they are like brothers. Get ready, because this is going to be a long crazy ride. Welcome to the SPN family.😁

Aww, thank you! I'm really excited. I know it's a long journey, but everyone says it's a great one, and I'm ready to go. And I had no idea there was a connection between the shows, so it's oddly fortuitous and fitting that I started them up so close to one another. :)

Omg if you continue this series, I will be with you for every single episode...just as with Once Upon A Time. My eyes are yours. 😅

@VictoriaWilder13 I really like it, but already know Lucifer kicked its butt ratings-wise and earned the Friday upload slot. However... I'm reevaluating my schedule and trying to decide how to fit in covering Supernatural as well. I might try a different format for this show of covering 2 or 3 episodes per video but only uploading perhaps every other week. Not sure yet, still playing around with some ideas. But I do want to give the show a chance.

No, I'm sorry. I had no sympathy for that woman. She killed her children because her husband was cheating, they were innocent and had nothing to do with that. Plus being unfaithful as you said doesn't warrant death; so she killed many men over a decade and considering what she tried to do to Sam who was resisting how do we know other men didn't try to resist when she forced them to do what she wanted. Her soul is damned for all that so I think her children destroying her spirit was the appropriate punishment and she doesn't deserve a happy ending, but that's just my point of view.
@nebulousreactionsАй бұрын
@BriSand1993 People suffering from psychosis are not responsible for their actions. If they didn't want sympathy for the character, they shouldn't have added that detail. That's why I said it was a mis-hit with the writing. If they hadn't included that, I would not have felt ambivalent about her fate. They also said she was behaving that way because her spirit was cursed. That also suggests she wasn't fully in control of her actions. So it sounds like she went mad, was cursed for going mad, and then damned for actions undertaken while in both of those states. Doesn't fully add up to me.
