I will say, when you think of what this says about Castiel's backstory, it's both horrifying and sad. And kind of explains why Castiel, in the beginning, acted differently even than other angels (less emotional response, etc.) i mean, her little monologue means that from pretty much the time he was created, Cas has been 'fighting the man', so to speak. He wasn't the good little obedient soldier. Not due to the usual 'fallen angel' reasons of jealousy, envy, desire, etc. But because he thought they were wrong. And when he balked, Naomi would scoop him up, brutally wipe his memories, reprogram him, and send him out to do his job once again. Over, and over, and over....thousands of times. He's like the Winter Soldier on steroids. And yet, somehow, every time, his real self, his conscience, would fight through the training and treatment, and the things he was made to do, to show itself again. Since his rebellion was one of conscience, he'd forgotten all the other times, and he was made to believe that his superiors were intending to do good, he'd openly question, they'd know...and back again for programming. It's a pretty horrifying idea, when you think of it. It's like he has been PTSD as hell...for millennia. Poor Cas.

absolutely! And how about now? It wraps up perfectly, your words with those of Chuck on S15, "you were born with a defect on your chassis" or something like that. The difference between Cass and the fallen angels (except Gabriel) was his admiration, intrigue, and love for humanity. We can see that from the get go with Uriel, taking sides with the brothers, defending Jack's divinity and humanity. Cass to me, was the best addition to the pair.

In case you don't know, they killed Meg off because her actress was diagnosed with MS and it was getting worse. It's much worse now (look for the newest convention videos with her in them). They didn't want to give someone else the role so they killed Meg, in her honor.

Did you know when Dean says "I need you" to Cas the script originally said "I love you" but Jensen though Dean wouldn't say that.

It was actually stated that "I love you" was in the initial draft, but it was changed to "I need you". I agree that Dean isn't the type of person to just openly say those words, it's just not in his character. Maybe in the beginning, but certainly not at this point. Man I could write a multi page paper on my thoughts on Destiel. I do ship them pretty hard, but what I enjoy is really looking at the "meat and potatoes" of their relationship...not just the "romantic shippy" side. The whole thing. Because I honestly feel that their relationship runs a lot deeper than just being "bro's" and "family". Romantic or not.

@@tayahjessie2556 exactly. At the end of the day, destiel was only a fan ilusion. Misha waited until the end to give them some closure and happiness because that relationship was never the intention, neither the feelings, at least not the sexual extent. After all, Cass was an angel, hence asexual. When he was human his preference was obvious. The bond between Dean and Cass was that of best buddies. Interpretation, interpretation. If I was from the LGBTQ community, I would be pissed and insulted that at the very last minute they added the "I love you" for an open interpretation of sexuality vs. brotherhood. I would be pissed that this was not a script from the beginning, a development of the character. An example would be Charly, a perfect development from the get go.

I still miss Meg. I had a lot of trouble with this story arc because Amanda Tapping is my hero and it was rough watching her manipulate and control Castiel like that. She did a great job as a bad guy, though.
