I feel like if Sam had went with Sarah Blake during his year off instead of Amelia than Dean and the fandom in general wouldn't have been so upset about it. Also note it would've made more sense for Amelia to be the one Crowley killed but the writers didn't go with that probably because they suspected no one would care.

Crowley was going off the books in order. So, Crowley wouldn’t have known and Amelia.

Sarah was married and had a baby, Sam wouldn't have gone to be with her during his year off.

Amelia being boring was exactly the reason the writers didn't kill her in this episode. No one would have been upset if they'd killed her so they didn't, rendering that entire subplot entirely pointless.

@@caseyanne967 Then they should have just changed it so that she was single when Sam was all alone after killing Dick and they run into each other again. Sam would have tried to break it off with her after Dean got back because he's scared for her safety, and Sarah being Sarah would tell Sam to get bent and join them to become a hunter as well. The fandom would have gone nuclear (in a good way) if she had been killed off after finally getting together with Sam.

@@Da1337Man I like Sarah, but if they did change anything on the show, then Sam should've looked for Dean. It would've been in character and a more realistic response to Dean's disappearance. Sam also wouldn't have given up on Kevin, especially since he had just rescued him.

Sarah's death hurt. I liked her. The definitely raised the stakes heading into the finale this season.

Everyone involved with SPN always said the show gives you what you want in a way that you don’t expect, and this is a prime example. So many people were happy to see Sarah again, and then they do her dirty like that. It’s why I love/hate the show

Dean has every right to be mad and cold towards Castiel. He ditched Dean and ignored him for months causing Dean worry then he just shows up not because he wanted to but because he had nowhere else to go. Look I know Dean can push things to far sometimes but in this case he's justified.

One of the things on this show that just disgust me is the fridging and killing off of Sam's girlfriends/love interest! I give Jess a pass but its just ridiculous that they keep killing off Sam girls! And it's usually in such a pointless matter, Sarah was brought back and killed off just to give Sam a personal reason for wanting Crowley dead. And why does this only happen to Sam girls? I mean yes technically Anna & Jo somewhat count as Dean girls but killing them off doesn't really count as fridging since the two of them were fleshed out characters, plus Dean has Lisa and Cassie who are still alive and so far Sam only has Amelia. This is another reason why I didn't care about Sam's feelings after the breakup, it was the first serious relationship he had that ended without a death, that is progress for Sam.

The show doesn't exactly have the best track record with its female characters (Jodi and Donna being the exception), I don't think anyone would dispute that fact.

@@Axetwin Ah yes, everything is measurable and you can't obviously kill lots of female characters because that means the writer's hate women. Hmm yes quite indeed, muh patriarchy and all that.
