My husband and I had our first at the hospital too; it was HORRIBLE. Second time around I was determined not to have a repeat experience. I birthed our second child on the toilet (because birth is messy haha!) and my husband caught for me. The recovery was so much better for me and our baby and that experience was so intimate and special! I wish everyone could experience something like this! Thank you for sharing! Birth is great!

Hi Katie, thanks so much for sharing this! I also have two little girls and my birth stories are so similar to yours! I also read Supernatural Birth, had a fairly easy but intense first birth at the hospital, and then a super easy and fast second birth in my tiny bathroom :) I’m expecting my third in about 2 months...we’ll see what happens! But this was an encouragement to me to really spend time in prayer about this and believe for an easy birth again. Thank you!

You explained you felt no pain but you felt contractions. Can you explain how the contractions felt like if they were not painful? What do you mean that the birth was intense and not painful?

TheVikingmaiden - The book that I referenced, supernatural childbirth by Jackie Mize talks about what a contraction looks like and feels like. She gave one of the best examples I’ve ever read. She said in her book that Holy Spirit asked her to flex her arm muscle and hold it there for a while, basically to contract the muscle by flexing. After a while, the muscle became fatigued and a little bit shaky, but not hurting or in pain. My contractions felt like super deep and intense muscle contractions. They didn’t hurt, but they were exhausting. It took everything I had to labor through them.
