It is believed that Chuck,(God, the author) once he put himself in the story so to speak, he weakened himself to a degree. He made himself vulnerable, and his omniscience became limited or clouded, b/c Sam and Dean didn't do as he wanted(how he wrote it)

In one episode where Sam and Dean were caught by a bunch of pagan gods they all had name tags and had a big dinner meeting to try and negotiate using Sam and dean as bargaining chips but during the dinner Odin jokes around about him dying to the world serpent and later in the episode he dies to lucifer... which is funny seeing as lucifer is portrayed as the snake in the garden of eden....

Just to be theologically nitpicky here: Lucifer is *interpreted* as the snake in the garden of eden. There is nothing in the Bible whatsoever that links Lucifer to the creation story at all let alone as the snake. The "character" was created way way later basically as fan fiction and got part of canon so much that when Christianity arose the texts accept the existence of a personal character that is the devil. Then Christians started to reinterpret the old testament texts to fit their narrative and just claimed the snake was Satan.

That “could an omnipotent being create a rock too heavy to lift” question never seemed like a paradox to me. I would say “yes”, if that’s his desire in the moment. Omnipotence is all ultimately about the capacity to turn desire and intention into reality. If an omnipotent being wanted to create a rock too heavy to lift, he *could* in fact do that until he changed his mind and wanted to lift it.
@Lilikyri
@Lilikyri Жыл бұрын
it always seemed to me that an omnipotent being could simply shuck off stuff like "the laws of physics" or "linear time", and simultaneously be unable to lift and easily able to lift the rock they can/can't create, though we likely could not comprehend this outcome with our three spatial one temporal dimensioned brains.

The whole thing with the God gun, is the concept of what the gun is made to do, is so non-specific, that it could harm him. It fires a piece of your soul/essence at the target, and the damage is reflected on both user and target.
@jimmywoolever798
@jimmywoolever798 2 жыл бұрын
There's a lot to explain, obviously with the show being 15 seasons, but long story short, God/Chuck isn't omniscient/present/potent, he's just the best around. To all others he appears to be those things because he's dealt with most things that can challenge him. Also, his sister is "technically" on equal footing with him, but they are opposites, he is creation, she is destruction. They exceed each other in certain aspects, which is why he can't defeat her in a one v one brawl, but he can (and did) create beings to help him overpower her. In regards to Jack, he was a nephilim, and in the show's universe, nephilim are the child of an angel and human, which causes the child to be exponentially more powerful than their angel parent. Jack was an arch-angel's nephilim, which resulted in him being nearly equal to God/Darkness. The Jack-bomb is essentially just "hey, what if we took all the power this being could ever produce, and just released it all at once?" I know you don't care at all about any of this, I'm just a nerd who can't help himself.

It’s so weird to see them do the gun that could kill anything again. Like a really early plot point was the fact that this one hunter crafted a gun and set of bullets that could kill anything, even demons, and then used it once. This was both a really interesting thing that helped them overcome a grand obstacle, and wasn’t that overpowered since it only had like 4 bullets left (and they couldn’t really make more). Then they just gave everyone knifes that could kill demons two seasons later.

I've always seen Supernatural's antagonists as "who is more evil than the last." We started with Some demons, we go on to other more powerful demons, then the devil, then apathetic invaders from another dimention, then capitalist demons, Then capital D "The" Demon(s), then angels, the literal embodiment of fratricide, an entity of destruction, and what I thought would be the last possible and most evil bad guy: Humanity. Ah, but low and behold Angels find a way to be even worse, this time with transdimentional angels. But eventually it turns out they're just taking after Daddy, and the Big G is actually the most evil entity to exist. It's been a long time since I watched most of the show (a good chunk of which was a depression binge in high school), and a lot of details are pretty dang fuzzy, but I felt it fit pretty good.

I think Chuck got tired of being god. Dude saw the same exact drama play out over and over again, and it COULDN'T change, since it all follows HIS rules, with a few random exceptions. Even when he was the most powerful being to ever exist, he was still confined by the rules he had created.

So a child answered the paradox question. I can't remember where it came from but exactly but it goes likes this. Could god create a burger so large that he couldn't eat it. The Kid answered "Well sure, but then he'd eat it anyway." I take that to mean. Yeah an omnipotent being could literally do anything, including limit themselves. That is, until the decided NOT to. This allows for all manner of tomfoolery you seen when omnipotent beings are defeated. Even when they can see or know everything, future, past or whatever. If they are TRULY omnipotent, any failing is because they decided to play along on SOME level. Beyond that, it's upon them to snap out of it or not. If they are truly omnipotent, they can correct course anytime they would actually want to. Even if on a what we could only call a subconscious level. If they decided NOT to, then it's within their power to do so. They simply cease to be or whatever, until they decide to come back. It's really that simple.

If it’s one, ultimate being of unlimited power, you can’t sneak up on him because he is literally the ultimate power and the creator and destroyer of everything including your methods of fighting. 🤔🤔🤔So god makes a gun that can kill god. So. he allows the gun to kill him. So it’s not that he makes something more powerful than even a god. He just made a gun and then decided that if it was ever to shoot him that he would decide to die. And unless that one specific thing happens he will just live forever. It’s not that he can create something more omnipotent than himself. He’s god he could do whatever he wanted. Which means he could just choose to die anytime he wanted. But instead he set up a condition for his decision to die. A condition being getting shot by that one specific gun. Why he would do this? No idea. But maybe that’s why the universe hasn’t already imploded into a paradox 🤔🤔🤔

When they introduced God, then had him vs the Darkness wrapped up is when Supernatural jumped the shark. While I agree in principle with how it eventually ends, I've struggled to push myself through the seasons after that in order to reach the conclusion. When you have beaten God, escalating beyond that is just so stupid. It's why I can't stand Dragonball Z, because it's never played by its own in-universe rules because Goku must always win and be strongerest.

Honestly, the original Death character was so much more badass than how they wrote God, and Billy was a really poor substitute. The first time you see Death, he's walking along the street, randomly touches someone, and they drop dead on the spot. Sam and Dean were terrified of him even after they took on the other three Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and the only reason he didn't kill them was because he didn't want to participate in the Apocalypse, mostly because he liked fast food so much, if I remember? He was fascinated by modern culture that tried so hard to kill people faster in every way, whether it was food, drinking, smoking, dangerous sports, etc. Then he got killed by a surprise attack with his own weapon that he handed to his enemy to kill his beloved brother (who was being held hostage BY DEATH) with? The same weapon that you explained could kill anything, even God? To the brothers who literally fought the Devil, sold souls (their own and others), murdered entire species of monsters, and more just to keep each other safe? Are you stupid? What? How did you not see that coming? Absolute disservice to have him killed off like that and not have it have turned out to be some kind of test or big reveal that showed that Death was hoping for that outcome. "How far are you willing to go to defy your brother's death?" or something, and then you get to keep him around and keep him neutral towards the Winchesters until the storyline requires him to become more antagonistic towards them. But instead, he got legitimately killed, and replaced by a Grim Reaper who was previously bound, blackmailed, and generally exploited like a tool by the Winchesters. Great selection by whatever committee was responsible for that choice.

A small correction. Death did not participate in the apocalypse specifically because he did not care. he saw lucifer as a child and earth as unimportant. He was under a spell by lucifer to do his bidding which he hated that someone like him would force someone so above him like death to do his bidding. This adds to your point and makes him way cooler as he is so much above everyone else to care about the plot, and annoyed when ever someone tries to rope him, which makes him even more awesome. I kinda hate how they nerfed death and his death was just stupid. Like yeah giving a loose cannon the one thing that can kill you what can go wrong. The only way his death would have worked is if darkness killed him or became him instead to show her destructive force is worse than his. But still I would have liked the original death to have stuck around longer. Even though I enjoy billie and like the idea of whatever reaper dies next after death becomes death (it is poetic and kinda fun). She had such big shoes to follow and sadly the writing did not keep up. She was fun though but just not scary like the old death.

Other gods were in the series and then one of the big bads killed them all after tricking them into meeting and even Loki was there. Also my take on the Void character in the series was more powerful or at least equally as powerful as God chuck. Only thing that kept it from wreaking havoc was that it just wanted to go back to "sleep"

I don’t think he was as powerful as God or Amara in raw power which is why they didn’t just have him kill god in season five and instead his power comes from just how vast he is, you cannot kill him because he is basically infinite, or the bomb meant to kill god didn’t kill him cause he was too large
@xRaoriex
@xRaoriex 2 жыл бұрын
@@They_Hit_The_Pentagon I took the void as a "this is only 10% of my power" type. A living realm. One could argue Chuck could be deemed more powerful since Chuck can create "realms". if you think about it, amarra is basically a living realm herself. Amarra was in charge as all things darkness till chuck showed up and we saw how powerful she was with basically the same power. Sht who knows though. It's all up for debate since the void was more passive and reactive than pretty much every other character so not much was seen. Most of all the characterization laid in context clues which there wasn't much of.
