There's no point in worrying about "the danger" of a supernova. If one happened close enough to harm us, there's nothing about it anyways. Might as well just enjoy the show.

Very interesting. About a yr and half ago I saw 6/10ish flashes of light from the region of the sky just right (east) to the constellation. Lasted less than 10seconds, uneven flashes and different brightness. First thought was satellite but was not moving from best I could tell. Pointed my 10in dob there didn't see anything. Sooo who knows?? Clear skys happy hunting.
