If the logs were behind the intake point he would have to wait for the log to be fully consumed before being able to grab the next log. If it were in front, well, it pretty obvious what the problem would be.

Pilppua menee klapien sekaan. Kuivuis paremmin kun sais pilpun eroteltua ennen poistokuljetinta. Wood chaff is going to same place as the chopped firewood. wood would dry better if the chaff is removed before the exit conveyor.

My Brother bought chainsaw-cut machine to help the chaff problem. also neighbour uses same method. The quillotine type blade is effecient, but makes lots of chaff.
