@ 9:23 There is an error in the calculation of Req. Req = 10//4 + 5 = 110/14 = 55/7. By current division then i = -2 x (5/(5 + 55/7)) = -70/90. i2 = (-70/90)(10/(10+4)) = -5/9 Amps. By the way, i = -5/9 is the same value calculated by Mesh Analysis. Therefore, the total current in the 4 ohm resistor by Superposition is I = 10/9 - 5/9 = + 5/9 Amps. ∎

I just want to be sure. When you calculated for i1, I think you did it incorrectly. Isn't it supposed to be i.k = i.total * (R.opp/R.eq)? In which case i.1 = (1.56)*(10/12.86) = 1.21A?
@marinabelkina839710 жыл бұрын
when you finding i1, you just need to find the portion of the total current 1.56A being going through 4 Ohms resistor. The current divider is I1=Itot*R2/(R1+R2). So you divide it by the sum of resistors, not equivalent resistance. You can simply use Ohm's law to check it, but the solution will be longer.

Hello, if the currents i' and i'' are opposite direction , but they have the same current, does that mean the current is equal to 0?
@muhammadazeemmohsin56668 жыл бұрын
Madam when you have found I1 so why you have divided onlu by 14, as I learnt that if we have to find the current on any branch so we have to multiply total current with opposite resistance and divide by sum of that both resistance, if I am right so it might be divided by 20
@abdelrahmangamalmahdy9 жыл бұрын
why did you erase the short circuits ? Isn't the current supposed to flow through the short circuit rather than going through the resistor ?!!
@foxxmulder752410 жыл бұрын
Hello...How did you know in which direction the currenst flows?
@marinabelkina839710 жыл бұрын
Well, sometimes it is hard to predict the direction of the current. But usually you just start from the positive terminal of the voltage source and then follow by the brunch. This is like water flow in the pipes. If you have a current source the direction of the current is shown by the arrow. If you can’t predict the direction of the current - you need to guess. If your estimate is incorrect - you’ll get the negative answer.

Regarding the equation in the second part to calculate i_2, shouldn't it be multiplied by -1A instead of -2A because the current splits between the two 5 ohm resistors? So the final answer should be i=i_1+i_2 = 1.11 - 0.36 = 0.75. Pls correct me if I'm wrong.
