That UV-light challenge would be the perfect for somebody that want's to learn abut values. That's the thing I guess why the art is always so perfect: The colors don't really matter for the most part. :)

Katri Kinnunen It also depends on the artist. LOL For me, I have OCD and always want to represent say green for trees and grass. Because I got used to Colour Theory of a colour wheel it changed everything. It is such fun.

The eye painting at the end is honestly one of the coolest paintings I've seen Rae do! The colours are so interesting- they're so close, but just different enough that it feels unique. It almost looks like digital art you'd see in a really cool graphic novel.

I have tritanopia (blue/green/yellow colour-blindness) so the last art challenge is pretty much also a fun way to see how colour-blind artists paint when they can't distinguish differences between colours but can still blend and use different shades in less conventional ways

These are so refreshing to watch, the finger painting is really personally speaking cause I always end up using my hands when working on my paintings. The last one will be a real challenge for people who are soo into control of traditional colors. Thanks for another entertaining video Rae!

Isn't it amazing that both of you doing the blue light challenge managed to choose good colours for everything anyway? Experience + our brains filtering the unusual information. I have pink-tinted goggles for winter sports and snow only looks pink for about 3 minutes, then my brain removes that much pink from the world and everything looks normal again.

I feel like the dirt and leaving it outside didn’t change it much if at all, but just blob art on its own is great 💕
@TheFiddleTwix
@TheFiddleTwix 2 жыл бұрын
Most of that challenge was entirely unnecessary/ineffective. Maybe if you decided to smear the paints around while they're still wet, or shake it while it's wet, it would help change up the blobs a little, but the dirt, leaving it outside and waiting overnight is completely pointless. All it would do is damage the paper and/or damage your markers and pens while trying to work on dirt. Making art out of blobs and scribbles is really cool, as you said, and it's a great exercise in creativity, but I feel like that challenge was kinda trolling in regards to everything else.

If the paint is watercolor, the morning dew should effect it, making it bleed more, especially if the paper is partly weighed down with something. 🤔 I think... I honestly don't know if morning dew would saturate the paper enough to effect the paints.

If you draw on an ios device you can actually do something like this. Settings > accessibility > display & text size > color filters > color tint or grayscale if you just wanna see color values. With color tint you can change what color it is with the hue slider

i do appreciate the replies but really it is not the same digitally- it could Look like you’re doing the same thing, but i’m quite familiar with the color wheel, and that plus the color picker tool (which is just necessary for digital art) means that this entire technique, and the Intent of it, can never work digitally

@@margierules000 u can get another person to create a color pallete for u in the app u use to draw! And then put ur device in greyscale or invert colours mode and there u go! i am ,too, familiar with the color wheel, but instead of using the color wheel u can use the color pallete

My sister used to do her own method of the overnight blob method where she'd paint on canvas and just leave it outside to weather in the sun, rain, all of it. She'd put acrylic on top of oil, she truly just gave the middle finger to the rules. Those were some wild pieces lmao

Realism can’t be anyones thing. Because once you remove the signature it’s next to impossible to tell whose is whose with most realist artwork. It’s why I never waste my time with it and refuse commissions who request it and point them to a photographer that’ll do it 20x cheaper and faster.

Hey Rae, I appreciate how difficult it is to create new videos for KZbin on a schedule! I do not have a TikTok account but the insight you provide is enough for me. I have so much work to do so I’m not very interested in doing time wasting trends. I know more and more channels are moving towards a strictly entertainment focus. The one thing that I love about Art channels is the opportunity to keep creating and maybe even learning about supplies I have never used or used for years and seeing how others have changed how they are used. I had NEVER used white paint on a watercolor painting before 2014! Now it seems like it is done without a thought of remorse or intimidation! Quite freeing I must say. I do enjoy watching your videos and seeing you create artworks. I am hopeful that you are going to include some finished paintings or drawings in future videos. Why not do a long term project with videos posted as you go? Parts 1-4 or 5? You keep your schedule and keep the algorithm happy and you post quality content for your viewers too! Well I am glad that you are still creating videos and appear to be enjoying yourself. Thank you.

I saw that eye in the background of her recent videos, and I literally became obsessed with it, it is one of my most favourite paintings by Rae and to think she painted it in blue light without any clue what colour she was using??? Mind blowing

For the blue light one, it would be interesting to paint the same piece under different color lights and then compare them all
