@amypanddirtytoo19263 жыл бұрын
@WalkAMileAncientCityStyle I'm assuming absolutely you could. Gold is a super soft metal, almost as soft as lead, which is why it is so easily flattened into gold leaf just by hand. Although they do make actual liquid gold leaf that you can paint and draw with (it is more expensive than metallic paint, obviously, but it is also a very potent neurotoxin - a lot of softer metals are, just look at lead LOL). They make it for restorers to restore actual gold gilded objects like frames from the Renaissance era and Victorian style home accents, that kind of thing.

For those with an aversion to the sound of nails on a chalk board using the aluminum foil, put acrylic gesso on sketchbook paper, if it curls as it dries close the book and put some weight on it to flatten it. You can use aluminum (foil), copper, silver, brass, gold, etc to draw with. White gesso shows varying degrees of gray depending on the metal as well as temperature of the gray. Black gesso allows the natural color of the metal to show, gold is gold instead of a yellow gray you get on white paper. I personally prefer to draw with copper since with age it turns greenish like the statue of liberty. I get my copper from old wires :)

As someone who used to water down their thick body acrylic all the time, only to find out that it can cause peeling and flaking, I'd be hesitant to add anything to the paint without knowing how it will effect it in the long run, unless it's something for digital reproduction(which I know is often the case these days). I imagine with the boiling water one, you'd have to keep it submerged for a little bit. Using boiling water to shape synthetic fibers is something doll artists will do when making wigs out of acrylic yarn and synthetic hair. You'd probably need to make sure to give it time to soften the material so it's malleable to the shape you're looking for. I also imagine, it would help to shape it using water, then using a soluble glue to hold it in place for a few hours while the temp comes down and it dries (similar to how you may buy brushes with glue on them for the reason of keeping the shape).
@EvaHoshizora2 ай бұрын
Her brush is not synthetic plastic, it's synthetic fur, so it needs not just more time, but a lil hotter water. Nail art brushes are more plastic like than art brushes, since the material used for nail polish would melt normal brushes =x

But since we had SOOO many dried out markers we could put 8-10 of one color into a spray bottle and voila-liquid WC!! To the boiling water/brush hack, we soaked our dried brushes in murphys oil soap for a few days to bring them back to life, but you can leave a little diluted murphys in the bristles, smooth them, let it dry for a day or 2, then rinse it. Glad you are feeling better. Like these new hacks. First time there are a few that I had never heard/thought of and are actually useful. The foil one - if I can get that sheen, I believe it will be fantastic. As for the tape one though - you would be spending quite a bit on the electricity to power that hairdryer, so not exactly reducing the carbon footprint. I just do borderless painting. Which means I draw a border - paint within it and slice off the excess, So much less hassle and more eco friendly IMO. Sure, the look isnt for everyone I guess. If I absolutely had to paint borders or lines, here is what it do. I have a thick cotton string. I double it up, place it in paint on my palette (leaving ends clean), remove excess and then hold it tight and approach from the outside to the border line press down and move it a little side to side to make a mark and I have a straight line. THen I paint outside it. The key for this is getting the consistency of the paint right and making sure you have the right amount on your string (almost like dry brushing, not too wet). I would much rather sit down and paint even lines if I absolutely had to rather than use all the tapes and hair dryers. but that's just me :)

Shape it into its like proper shape when applying the conditioner. Let sit for a a few min. When rinsing the conditioner out rinse it bristles facing down so the water streams in the direction of the bristles. This works so well to remove tons of built up paint gunk in your bristles. I do it once a month

Would powered chalk work as well for no#1 ??? When I'm making my own gesso I used that instead of the marble 😊

I think the marker hack might work with even a single marker, depending on how concentrated you want the colour to be.

or just use a few drops of ink?

Use rubbing alcohol and old sharpies. You only need one pen and you have instant alcohol ink which is expensive.
@galemonterio52612 жыл бұрын
Also use a narrow bottle ($tree) with spray top and yes use alcohol as well…..$.25tree

I used to play with aluminum foil at school out of boredom. While I know you could draw with it. I just liked to make smooth shiny cubes. 😂

The synthetic brush tip, you need to let it sit in extremely hot water. It's better to have something hold it and then let it do the work.

For centuries artists have drawn with metal, usually silver. Metal point was usually done on wood or handmade paper with a coating of bone ash and other organic colorants, as there was no commercially produced paper available. Da Vinci would mix indigo with the bone ash. FIlippino Lippi, Jacques, Rogier van der Weyden, Albrecht Düre, Botticelli, Jan van Eyck, Jacques de Gheyn II, Raphael, Hendrick Goltzius, Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio, Rembrandt, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, and Andrew MacCallum all used silver Point. Many artists today still do this, Susan Schwalb for example. You can literally put almost any type of metal wire into a mechanical pencil and use it to draw, I’ve done it with aluminum, brass and copper. Sometimes the metal will oxidize and give different looks. I’m sure if aluminum was available at the time Da Vinci would have used that too but, he probably would have killed for a nice set of graphite pencils.

I used to do the 3 pencils one when I was little. I used to use tape though, and I used to secure the crossbeam (?) part about halfway up the drawing pencils. This was a fun video! Thanks - and glad you're feeling better! I also suffer from reactions to meds and it sucks big time.

I have my own tape hack avoiding the same problem (ripping up the paper) and that's taking your strip of tape and just pressing it against your clothing (jeans work best) a couple times to get some of the "harsh" stickiness off the tape and that's it. Way easier than using a blow dryer. Love you videos! You're such a down to earth type of persona and I look forward to your videos!

For the tape we were taught in school to stick it to our clothes to destick it. This is also good for using tape on skin like around sleeves to keep them down for protection or for makeup.

16:02 another one you could do is stick the tape to skin a few times and then place it on the paper (I have not tried it but I saw a tik tok and because most tape does not stick to skin it won’t hurt.) also I think you can use masking tape
