Under GS or Mr. C, I have noticed that Regine's high notes are more tempered. They prefer to make her stick to the midbelts and they dont easily allow her na magwala and use her money F5 to G5 notes every so often. They compensate for it by backing her up with beautiful orchestral music. Now that she's 50, I think she can make a return to that kind of musical arrangement.

i agree. ang classy nila mag areglo ng kanta. ang sarap sa tenga lalo na pag orchestra. fine examples: songbird sings the classics - gerard salonga. one night with regine - mr. C. yung sa twenty ni hindi ko masyado mafeel na may orchestra pala hehe.

@@Arkgi Sa Twenty, 4 yung MDs. What set Gerard apart there was the elaborate string instrumentals sa intro ng Love Me Again. Kena GS and RC, pansin ko hindi halos required bumirit beyond E5 si Ate Reg. They want Regine to sing the original song melody (with carefully selected points to do her adlibs). They also want her to pause between lines/verses so they can showoff their string/brass instrumentals (instead of her tendency to sustain and sustain at wag na huminga haha). So ang ending, chill lang si Regine. Parang Songbird Sings Legrand ba (but that one was on a whole new planetary level).

In projects like these, RVA was always very willing to let us "stretch our legs" as arrangers and try things that are simply not possible with a small band of 5 or 6. It's great to have KZbin to look back at these performances. My goodness I was still young here - I was only 27 years old 😅

Indeed, you were 27 while Regine just turned 31 here - major throwback to the good ol times!!! The concerts that you did with her are super cult favorites among Regine fans and all have been uploaded in full here on KZbin. Saulado po namin lahat iyan - from Songbird Sings The Classics to Christmas At The Fort to Regine Live Sa Antipolo (where naka white T-Shirt kayo at nakablack turtleneck si RV at sobrang gandaaaa ng setlist dahil refreshing and never before sang by her ang mga song choices) to R-15 up to Martin and Regine: WTC. Pati ung contributions nyo po on her Twenty concert (Love Me Again) and on Silver (Nineteen 90 suicide medley) alam ng madla haha. The consensus among her fans (me including) is you and Mr. C were the best musical directors that RV had in her long spanning career. Actually, one of the things that got all of us excited when Regine returned to ABS is the possibility of a reunion with you po. It is our hope that you two could reunite for a concert with the ABS Philharmonic Orchestra to herald the return of live events in the country once the pandemic is over.

Hindi televised yon so there's low to no chance at all na may kopya nun. All copies of Regine concerts and performances esp in the 80s and 90s are recorded from TV. That Carnegie hall show was in 1990 so malabo yan. Di pa ata uso commercial video cam noon
