In Canada all of the big fast food restaurants (McDonalds, Wendy’s, Birger King, etc.) have to post the calories right on menus. Currently Canada has 8% less obese men and 12% less obese women than in the USA. Not that this is the sole cause of the difference in numbers but still it is interesting.

I've been watching this show for a good while and the psychology behind it is incredibly interesting. People with a really unhealthy relationship with food and their bodies tend to keep it behind closed doors so to speak, so the question this begs is "would you feel comfortable watching someone else eat your diet?" A lot of the thought behind eating disorders including over eating that it's only hurting them and some even believe they deserve the punishment so being able to see someone else struggle with what your doing to yourself forces someone to take a look at why they think they deserve to be treated like that if they don't want to see someone else be treated like that.

Funny enough, I used this show as a trigger for my ED years ago. Now, I watch it and find myself in the spot of the super skinny. The psychology really changes people, even if you're a viewer! If I felt bad for the super sizer eating five bites of food a day...why do I feel okay doing that to myself? It makes you re-evaluate your own relationship with food and it helped kick my ass into recovery. I honestly wish this show would come back, and I wish they'd also send the super skinny overseas to see how under eating affects people, it's a good way to see both sides of the scale and how maintaining a healthy middle is always better.

It sometimes comes from a false-sense of superiority, but there are a lot of concerns with the US, and as Doctor Christian has found, many people are in denial in the US about why things are so bad for them. Of course, this is true of many, but the USA is such a big nation, it becomes more apparent.

Oh man, I am on that stage in my weight loss where I am gaining muscles and weight by consequence and it is messing me up. I KNOW I am losing fat content and gaining muscles, but the scale is scaring me. I gained 10 lbs and I can see the muscles in my arms more and more so I just need to ignore the scale which is hard to do. This show just reminds me why I am losing that fat.

For anyone curious, a corn dog is similar to a battered sausage but has a couple key differences. First, cornmeal is used in the batter. This gives it a fluffier texture and slightly sweeter taste. Second, corn dogs are almost always served on a stick. While they can be eaten as-is, many people add a sauce, such as mustard or ketchup. The US has also created a breakfast version that is sold as a frozen product to heat at home: the inside is a breakfast sausage and is wrapped in a pancake batter. Some versions include chocolate chips in the pancake.

It always makes me laugh when they say “tuck in.” Because I live in USA, and we say “dig in.” And “Tuck in” is something you do to a child who is going to bed. Anyone else agree! 😂😂😂
@ElizabethF22223 жыл бұрын
Ha ha. True. In America, we say to our kids at bedtime, "I'll be up in a minute to tuck you in." And then at dinner, someone will say, "Okay everybody, dig in!" I'm still trying to figure out what that drink "squash" is. LOL

It's more complex than that ....the human brain doesn't always work like the movies. I was your all-american athlete growing up; then saw severe trauma in combat in Iraq. I had no idea PTSD would turn me to drugs and booze...everything I was against (sober one year now with treatment and therapy)! The brain is far more complex than black and white....and gives us no reason why we do the things we do. I might suggest that old indian saying 'walk a mile in their shoes' before passing judgement.

No need to be disrespectful to her, she probably has thanked the doctors several times and does believe they are the reason she’s still here. Maybe she just believes that the reason that the surgery worked and the doctors were able to save her was due to God, because surgery doesn’t always work. Everyone has different beliefs and you don’t have to agree but there’s no need to be disrespectful.
