I was checking their webpage and wondering how it could be puncture- and waterproof if it also has a lot of stretch. And now I know, it isn't puncture- or waterproof. Thanks for the review.

I have some, and yeah I agree that protection wise they're not better than barefoot although I think they can keep your feet warmer and also possibly protect you from infection since they are supposed to be puncture proof. But I think for me as a barefoot runner one possible use is to try running further than my skin will allow me to in order to get my feet used to more barefoot miles without the skin fatigue issue.
@MovementTrainingCo4 жыл бұрын
Skin wear is a good call, especially if you're putting miles in on man made surfaces. I'd love to hear if they hold up for that once you put some miles on.

Just so you can know, the point to the socks isn't to protect your seet from projectiles but they're designed to last because as we know socks today are shit and very often go in the trash
@MovementTrainingCo4 жыл бұрын
Yeah socks really don't last, sadly. These were marketed as a shoe replacement, so that's what i tested them as. I'd imagine they would hold up nicely in a shoe, though.
@JLMoriart4 жыл бұрын
It would have been nice if you actually wore them for a while. You "imagine" that the part under your heel would wear out pretty quickly... but this is a review. What you imagine is not really useful =/ Same with the comment about the stitching. The only information I got from this review is that it doesn't protect your foot much more than a regular sock... but that would be fine with me as long as it actually lasts and I could just wear them everywhere.

Hi John, you're right. A better title would have been first impressions instead of a review. I opted to return them to get my money back since I wasn't pleased with them. Unfortunately, they never refunded my money either. That's what I get for going the knock off route I suppose.

I have looked at this and the reviews are so bad that say that it gets ruined so fast and it’s overrated and it’s not strong almost like a normal sock.

I sent mine back but never got refunded the money. This was quite a while ago so perhaps they have cleaned up there act. (Note: There are multiple companies that sell similar looking product so I of course can only speak to "Super Socks")

Why are you judging by feel? Your foot needs to be sensitive. That is kind of the point of sensory receptors, to avoid stepping on pointy things. You need to judge the puncture proof ability, by actually trying to puncture it, as opposed to judging by level of comfort.
@MovementTrainingCo3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree that we need to have appropriate sense in our feet to navigate our surroundings. I used feel to see if the fine point, sharp objects were able to go between the weave (puncture), and they were. You're right that I could have done some high force tests to see if the sock survived being punctured, and if it limited the depth of puncture in a steak or something. I'll keep that in mind for future tests. =)
@SimonWoodburyForget3 жыл бұрын
@@MovementTrainingCo I think it should offer good protect from cuts (glass) and temperature (hot pavement). I think puncture proofing is something else altogether, because nobody in their right mind would walk on nails... with or without shoes. I could see how they could have done better though, because the fibers are probably allowed to slide past each other too much. Honestly I would wear an "outdoor"-sock purely for the temperature protection and minor skin protection. You could stuff them in your pockets and put them on whenever you need them. Solar noon pavement is sometimes hot enough to bake an egg, so essentially you could make them an alternative to flip-flops.

Man I like the socks that look awesome. I wonder if they would fit my foot. I have big very very wide feet sz15 6 EEEEEE wide with very fat wide toe that are equally straight across making my foot very very extremely wide. With my foot being 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe they do not make a shoe , sock , or boot that is wide enough for my foot. I am 95% barefooted 👣 because of this all year long in rain , sleet , or snow. Put these look like some cool socks though. I've got used to doing things barefooted 👣 since my foot outgrow shoes 33 years ago. It really do sucks having extremely wide foot in the winter time when it's 20 and 30 degrees outside and you have to be barefooted 👣 because they do not make a closed toe shoe that will fit my foot.

Thanks! Really good review and you saved me the money! Do you have any recommendations that do work though AND that lets you be grounded aswell?🌞
@MovementTrainingCo8 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not in the sock category. I love my Earth Runner Sandals because they do have the copper wire for grounding, have pretty good ground feel, but are sturdy enough that they don't flop around like some of the thinner minimalist sandals.

I ended up returning them, but they never refunded me. I guess that's why they keep changing their company name. "Super Socks, EcoSocks, etc."
@kyleraimo45084 жыл бұрын
Since you are misleading people and straw manning the company, here is a quote directly on their main page: "FYFs are abrasion-resistant and cut-resistant - not proof. FYFs are NOT puncture resistant. Needle-like objects like sea urchins can penetrate, be cautious about such dangers. Write us anytime with more questions about its capabilities via the red support button below." All you have to do is take 30 seconds and read.
@MovementTrainingCo4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kyle, this is not a review for FYFs. This is a review for a Chinese knockoff of Free Your Feet called "Supersocks," hence the video title. On their website, they claim to be proof, hence me testing their claims. The company has since changed names multiple times (Ecosocks, The Barefoot Company, etc.), and I've had many people reach out to me about paying and never getting the product, returning them and not being refunded (happened to me, too), etc. I'm sure FYFs do a much better job of accurate marketing, and probably make a much better product. Have you used them? If so, how do you like them? I'm considering giving the real deal a try at some point.
