Red Queen is talked about as if it is a very popular book because when it was about to come out and even a little later, it WAS insanely hyped up. Epic Reads talked non stop about it, I think it got a movie deal before it even was out, many big book tubers had glowing reviews, it was insane. I read it a little while after, when the hype was still there, and I hated it because all the buzz made me think it was a masterpiece. And then, I think around the second book came out, the hype died and many people started hating it. It actually happens a lot, if you think about it, with many books like ACOTAR, it’s even kind of starting with Children of Blood and Bone, in a smaller scale. They’re more loved than Red Queen, but they still had many months of non-ending praise followed by some other people reading it and being mad because their expectations were too high. Sorry for the long comment, I just thought maybe you would want to know....

The Percy Jackson one really left me sad because I'm obsessed with it and it's definitely one of my favorite series. I don't really think age has anything to do with it tho, because I read them for the first time in 2017 so I was 22 years old and then the illustrated edition of the first book came out last year and I read it. I gave all the books five stars so yah, I'm pretty much obsessed. I also finished the Kane Chronicles this year and love it. But, of course, like with everything I understand that it will not be for everyone so I respect your opinion xD

I enjoyed the first three Outlander books but they require so much commitment that I haven't returned to finish it. She has also written two companion guides and that is just too much lol. I don't want to have to study a companion guide to get caught up with what happened last. Plus, a pet peeve of mine is when series just keep going i.e., expand to 4-5 books but they are originally a trilogy. I think because I don't do rereads, I want them to end when they say they are going to end. Does that make sense?

I love Three Dark Crowns but I appreciate it isn’t for everyone and I am so with you on the Sookie books. It is like Charmaine Harris just said “eff this” and deliberately destroyed her characters. I honestly would have rather everyone gone down in a blaze of glory than that ending. As soon as I was spoiled I un-preordered my book and just made up my own Sookie headcannon. Then I proceeded to read a ton of fan fiction. Much better results came from that. As far as DNFs for series the biggest one that I can think of was The Selection. I know so many people love it but I just couldn’t. I don’t think I’ve ever hated any main character so much before. I made it through the first book and didn’t really like it but thought I would soldier on. About 30% into book two I just couldn’t take her anymore and had to quit. It is one of the only DNFs of my entire life.

So I never finish the last book. Part of me wants to finish it because I have the book but a other part of me doesnt. I have no idea who she ended up with i kinda of skip that part in your video just incase you said something about it. Also part of me thought her story should have end couple of books back and didnt need to be 13 books long either.

A series I don’t think I am gonna finish is the outlander series just couldn’t get through the 4th book. I will continue the show easier to digest. And I am not gonna finish And I Darken trilogy. I only have the last book to finish but I was not a big fan of the romance of the main character it kinda ruined it for me

I'm curious if I would enjoy the show. I've heard it's better!

I don’t think the Wicked Saints opinion is unpopular at all, I have yet to see anyone on booktube give it 5 stars. Most people have given it 2 or 3 stars 😄 I also didn’t like Children of Blood and Bone, the concept was great but the execution...not so much! I also agree about Truly Devious, it was very underwhelming and just kind of messy. And YES, I so agree on Superman! He’s the one superhero that I just couldn’t care less about lol

Really?! Two of my good friends on BookTube both gave Wicked Saints 5 stars!

1000% agree with children of blood and bone. Glad to have found someone to share this extremely unpopular opinion with haha!

Superman is my all time favorite superhero and of course I was super excited by the book but ultimately disappointed. I don’t remember too much as it was a while ago I read it but your not missing out on anything especially if you don’t care for the character in the first place

I'm sorry you were disappointed by Dawnbreaker :-/

As a fellow non-Superman fan, I was NOT looking forward to the book in the DC Icons series. But, I actually loved the book?! It was pretty great! Also I never got into Percy Jackson so I'm glad I'm not alone!

And Wicked Saints....thank you! I could not get into it at all and I nearly DNFd like 12 times.

Ahhh no way! That's so surprising! I really want them to publish more DC Icons books!

I read the first & second Disovery of Witches series and I thought I liked it... but then I never cared to pick up the third one? LoL. Noooooo... not Sookie!!! I mean, I get it though. :-)
@MerrilyKristin5 жыл бұрын
LOL That's happened to me with other series too! And I know :-( It really pains me re: Sookie! But in my headcanon, she and Eric are living happily ever after!

@@MerrilyKristin That's fair, for sure. Sookie+Eric for life!

I feel the same way on the truly devious series, I couldn't make it pass 100 page mark and just like I don't care anymore

Good call not to finish the discovery of witches series. The second book was Awful and the finale just barely redeems it

I totally agree with Renegades I honestly don't get the hype for that series I think the story and the characters are so lame and boring and it's a shame since I am a TLC fan.

I feel the same way with the Red Queen. It's so unoriginal and it's overhyped. 🤷🏻♀️

I was also disappointed in CoBaB! Inan’s whole character development was a mess imho I’m dnfing the Six of Crows duology! 😬 I may try King of Scars but at this point I’ve read 4 Leigh Bardugo books and I just don’t think she’s for me. Six of Crows was the one I liked best of them and I still just felt extremely mediocre about it.
@MerrilyKristin5 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Tbh, I felt a bit lukewarm about Six of Crows, but then I LOVED Crooked Kingdom. I do agree with you re: the Grisha trilogy though! I still have to read the last book but I have no motivation to do so.

I like the Percy Jackson movies. Have not read them I am too old to read them too. But am enjoying yoing adult fiction even though I am not a young adult either. I didnt read Outlander because of the brutality too and that wasnt even Jamie lol.
@MerrilyKristin5 жыл бұрын
I also really enjoy young adult fiction! I think I just didn't latch on to Percy. Though I started a different middle grade series, the Keeper of the Lost Cities series, earlier this week and instantly fell in love with it!

I once read 2 dark Regins for me it sounds like 3 dark crowns in the first part the second part is the 2 Dark Regins its Boring and too Political the 3rd and the Final one is coming out soon it has More Action i would read that one and its The end of the 3 dark crowns series.

As much as it saddens name I respect your choice on Percy Jackson. You shouldn't read books just to say you have read them
@abbywonder38255 жыл бұрын
The last sookie stackhouse book was pretty lame. You aren’t missing anything. I gave up on the PLL series. I really liked the first 4 and it should have stopped there. But they kept going and it was the same thing time after time.
